gamers, we're back. i have some crazy news for you. we beat ascension 10 as the defect. i don't know how to prove that to you. i also lost like a bunch of subsequent runs. probably in the compendium and then your run history and that's a loss. gonna be a loss, that's gonna be a loss, that's gonna be a eeeeee! two bosses down, bro.
-
0:29
that happened on stream. so for now we'll random and if we get the defect we'll just... i mean, i have to... i have to give up. i was thinking it would be... i was like what are the odds that i get the defect? but then i was like maybe wouldn't it be sick if we just ran it back? because maybe on youtube they love the defect but also i was like come on. we got to mix it up with whoever we get here. not the defect. it's the silent runs will continue until morale improves i'm afraid. give me a rare.

i love all of these. serpent form can be disgusting if we can find the means to play it. works with shift deck or slide deck. whenever you play a skill again, slide crazy for longer fights. and then even discard your hand enables so many slide cards for us, man. like, i like it. can i say something? i'm gonna say something. can i say something insane? master planner upgrades to cost one. i'm gonna split the difference and take master planner then.
-
1:34
master of a planner, they're planning the strings! you know what i'm talking about? when you play a skill, it becomes sly.
-
1:43
sugar, how'd you get so sly? i really almost, and you may debate this, and perhaps you're right to do so. i genuinely thought for a second we were gonna take shadow step just because i felt like on the first floor, taking shadow step seems awesome because it's a discard on anything we get and we can just try to like force sly.
-
2:08
and then we don't need to draft like, look at me, draft as if i know what i'm talking about here. we don't need to draft like a thousand discarders even though we probably would anyway because many of them are also draws. but i think that master planner and then getting it upgraded is a good middle ground. like serpent form just really hard to play honestly. acrobatics will still be peak.
-
2:33
acabeko and then like a bunch of dramatic entrances. i don't know why a bunch would matter now that i think about it, but it is what it is. now the other thing is we don't have to play master planner in every circumstance. maybe we will anyway just because it was either that or like six damage essentially. draft some good stuff man.
-
3:00
i think it's too early to say whether or not i feel like we have a great chance, but it's definitely, like, exactly the right time to say sly is really good, because it is. i don't think we have to apologize for saying sly is good. oh, and now why would you play that? oh, because master planner just made our survivor become freaking sly, bro. next time it swings around, we're going to be pumping. sure, i'll take a flick flack. i mean, the more the merrier, man. any good sly cards?
-
3:33
don't mind backstab. i actually love flash of steel as well. more draw is important if we're gonna be running these, but truth be told wouldn't we rather just dump an injury out of our... no, because we could draw past an injury. it's a shame we can't get both. in that case, i would rather get flash of steel honestly and then let's add a prepared and we'll... we have enough draw to hopefully just draw past the curse until we find a more productive time to dump it.
-
4:04
you don't need to play master planner every single time. the bro's only got 44 hp, man. lay off my goat. you got anything for me? oh, you got a free flick flack. i love sly. i love sly. i love shivs. and i love when the sly build has a little splash of shiv in it. i honestly don't think untouchable is that good. i think i'd rather have a dagger spray to have some form of like aoe coverage. it just feels so bad. huge.
-
4:38
it feels so bad to get sly when you don't have a discard and you're sitting there with this like six block card that i guess to be fair does have retain it's still so we're setting up the master planner here. you're putting a bunch of junk in our deck i don't respect it, but it is what it is we're playing skills because they become sly later sugar had you get so sly with master planner, bro. i
-
5:05
obviously with master planner and then you dump the survivor which dumps the flick flack. flick flack jan flick flack. you get cut out of this, you play this next turn. i mean next turn we're looking all right man. next turn we're not doing anything actually but actually that's kind of annoying because three more infections in the deck is going to be really irritating but.
-
5:32
i'll hit you with a good lord's blitcher on this one and i'll definitely take three damage. let's make sure that like one of the wrigglers is getting close to death here. i actually feel like this is a really great position we find ourselves in. that, a little bit less so, but you know what? this always happens at this point on this fight. you always hit a moment where you go while life is paying. that's okay. look at that. free slyness. um...
-
6:03
doing 18. i really don't want to make a strike free, i'm sorry to say. it's just like the optics of that are just not appealing to me. obviously, something like that's kind of awesome. and then something like not being able to do any more damage is kind of not awesome. but being able to maybe get a flick flack as soon as possible might make me feel like somebody up there likes me. no flick flack, i'm afraid.
-
6:36
it's okay, could be worse. next time we get the flick flack. we are gonna have to rest, but even that is not so bad, man. 19 hp? yeah, we're gonna wanna rest. i think we actually have a great build for dealing with the kin, if we can make it there. snekoskull? well, at least we didn't do this for no reason. i'm taking ricochet just on the off chance.
-
7:03
that we get it on turn one with a discarter so that we can take advantage of acabeko and then let's let it ride again, man. hopefully this fellas a little bit more our speed. would you upgrade your hands here? i probably wouldn't. the order was all screwed up. don't get me wrong. we played straight ducky there. you need master planner acrobatics. let's let's use it on this one man. dump a ricochet for sure.
-
7:42
and then i will use a touch of insanity. call me crazy man, i'm gonna make a flick flak free. i don't know if that lasts for all of combat or what but... strike? again, order you want to play your defense first against this guy because you get literally you get a damage buff but alas.
-
8:05
i said alas as if that like defended me in any way but uh i'm gonna i'm gonna not play that ricochet with no damage bonuses on top of it. i don't think that makes much sense for us man you can sly the acrobatics
-
8:20
yet almost nothing else sly off of it, which is crazy. now here you have to actually puzzle it out. that's 16 damage plus 16. we get 10% bonus damage from each one. so we could do 8 and take you to 34. then we'd be doing 50% bonus damage, which would do 9. you'd be hit for 17, which would take you to 25. and then you'd be taking 60% bonus damage, which would only take us to
-
8:45
what's 1.6 times 6 is 9.6 times 10, so you probably stay alive with just a little bit of hp. so i actually think you play two blocks on this one and then dump that and then hope to get a kill on the next turn. quick maths. so obviously that's not going to turn out. so we will just play even more blocks and then not die because this run is beautiful so they won't let me die.
-
9:14
thankfully the order screw up didn't matter there. eternal feather kind of huge. let's get a backflip going, man. you might think i'm a dreamer, but i'm not the only one, man. if we just do basic combat, i feel like we're much better equipped to handle basic than, yeah, dump it. we're much better equipped to handle basics than we are to handle big baddies right now. i don't think you play master planner, bro. you draw a flick flack? oh, you do draw a flick flack.
-
9:52
and then all we need to do is hit you one time next turn and this was a great fight. i mean, have i ever been sad to see a dagger spray? no, but give me a deflect anyway. this is a messed up enemy to have when i have akabeco. am i crazy to think this still does great work? just to not have to deal with that felt awesome. okay, and a calculated gamble and a relic. the relic is if you end with 10 block, deal six damage to a random enemy. obviously, we
-
10:39
i have to rest. i don't have the means to quickly kill you. i can consistently draw a decent amount, but i don't have the means to quickly kill you. i think drawing dagger spray with akabeko is totally fine. save the calculated gamble. we'll be able to get a better look off of calculated gamble once all of our skills are slide.
-
11:09
back flip, no discard engine? are you trolling? because like ricochet could be crazy here man. maybe full block turn. also gave us six damage randomly so that was like playing a strike on an enemy that i didn't want to strike. which i mean is a compliment apparently. get that trash out of here, take some damage off the field. master planner is end game for you. and then now it's about survival man, it's about power. play every skill at your disposal.
-
11:41
thus making them sly for the third go around. come on, man. dump two strikes. do a backflip. you need to play that. calculated gamble just is worth so much more later. don't do this to me, man. we have a good run. we have a good run. i know it to be true. start with the acrobatics. dump a survivor that dumps an injury. take some damage off the field.
-
12:15
can't kill you. what are we drawing off of this? i mean, maybe it's time. these are some seriously basic cards, man. it was not time. it was not time at all. you're doing 24 damage. i'm gonna have six hp and i gotta find a way to deal 155 damage to you. play a defense so that it counts. my god, i didn't even realize he was attacking because i was watching on the preview window. i needed some way to do more damage. i just didn't have enough damage, man.
-
12:51
i mean serpent form would have solved it. the only catch is that we would have been dead from playing serpent form. let's do exactly the same thing again. screw it man. full abrasive. literally have never tried to make abrasive work from zero. obviously the dream is being able to play it on turn one because at this point we should accept
-
13:27
we should not take damage. if we get to play it on turn one with no penalty, like if we don't take any damage in the process, oh, we need relics that give us block early so that we can get the... we're gonna take damage? what? and then there's all my blocks on turn two, man, or the second turn where he was doing a bunch of attacking at least. so it's all poison.
-
13:53
actually getting a bunch of blocking thorns actually makes me think that poison might be super relevant. let's try to take hayes man. it's a little expensive. so yeah, it's another slide deck. which means we really wanna see another discard, a draw and discard engine. snakebite was speaking to me a little bit, don't get me wrong. okay, it's gonna be a little harder to play abrasive on this one. it's sly, we still play. my god, i was a genius to take.
-
14:30
to take abrasive. i ignored the most important word on the card which is sly. stallone, my second home like will smith says in miami. that's incredible. why? i would never pay you three energy for that. what a horrible card for three energy. you gotta be a fool to think that's worth three energy. but to get it for free? wow, now you got me thinking. now you got the old prefrontal cortex working. guys, i miss kletz.
-
15:03
it's fine, fine to die anyway to poison as a matter of course. i have a hard time believing we're gonna need the game block equal to poison on all enemies. feel like a backflip that lets us draw. yeah, it's common but that don't mean it's underrated. meal ticket, we are gonna wanna go to shops to remove the curses we've been adding. okay, well not now. obviously not now, we don't have the kind of money to, we don't have the cognitive capacity to lead. all right, fine, we'll do it.
-
15:41
huge abrasive to cut the lead to 50. i know the lead is 42, but he had 50 hp. it just felt more natural. some blocks, my lord? that's not too bad. so immediate, what normally happens is i lose the first run and then i start building a second run and the whole time i'm doing the second run, i'm thinking about the extra, right? but then the second run ends up being better than the first one. this is like the opposite.
-
16:14
this is the rare rebound run that feels as interesting as the run that came before it. i don't think i'm going to take ricochet. i think we learned a lesson. ricochet, nicolache, they sound too similar. i'm not interested. how about something with some aoe? i mean, i don't know what to tell you, man. i don't know what to tell you of this. we drew every basic card in the deck on turn one.
-
16:48
every single basic card in the entire deck. like that's, it's criminal that they would do that to me. where's abrasive bro? and don't say he's in the camera frame in the top right, okay? i'm doing my best here. i need, i need freaking thorns out there. i can't believe i gotta pay three energy for this. the indignity of it all. wait, this is huge though. cause you can backflip off of survivor drawing some cards.
-
17:17
and drawing cards, of course, is amazing for us because of the fact that we draw into more curses. more statuses, i should say. well, we're gonna have to reckon with a lot of... a lot of detritus on the board. get rid of a survivor, which gets rid of a backflip, which draws a couple of statuses. but we're still chilling, taking no damage. you're in a great spot to die this turn, holy cow. but actually, this turn,
-
17:52
it looks a lot better than next turn. yeah, it looks a lot but do we? okay, literally the play which is crazy is to defense. so that next turn we hope we draw hayes and we play it for full cost. it didn't work y'all.
-
18:13
my god next time we draw. oh, but you hit me with thorns you come up with but wait this is actually because you guys are stunned this actually worked out now we are taking 12 damage which sucks but being able to get the haze out there when there's four enemies on the board that was what i wanted cuz i think it's gonna cut down the turn time around this something fierce i don't think we have any aoe but like if we could just hit a little wombo combo on on slide cards it would be huge. i mean, i hate to say it man. i think you just go haze again and
-
18:51
and at least that's the end of the bleeding. regal pillow can get us out of that, that's good. we don't have master planner anymore. so yeah, adding sly to a skill in your hand goes crazy. let's arrest and get back to a reasonable level of hp. and now i'm feeling a little bit better. art of war seems like the sort of thing that might actually be swag for us because we don't really want to play that many attacks, man. and here i have to remember,
-
19:23
we literally don't care about playing haze in this situation. it's an aoe merchant for a reason. let me get a hand trick on a defend. obviously you're going to play abrasive. obviously you're going to play defend. let's sac the hp. we're going to take the safer line. the safer line is take a little bit of damage now to hopefully never take damage again. now this is big. then you dump the backflip, get some more slide cards.
-
20:03
i'm realizing, i think i got this all screwed up. we need to have more discard engines and more sly cards. wait, i don't have it screwed up at all. that's like, that seems like a pretty normal way to think about things. holy cow, we actually get the 23 block off of that. do i kill you this turn? depends how you feel about, yes, you die. okay, because we have four thorns. oh wait, dude, we can do this. we can do this. legs becoming sly, huge. weakness also great against thorns.
-
20:39
backflip into an abrasive. whatever, it happens man. abrasive, it literally has to be played. you have to play it. we need something like anchor or the other captain's wheel. again, i'm not 100% sure that all these even exist in slay the spire 2, but if they do, they would go crazy right now. ideally, we would keep you on the ropes every turn.
-
21:21
that turn kind of plays itself. it sounds like we're getting hit a lot, but it ain't really that bad. like every turn that goes by, we're doing at least four to you. it would be nice to do more. okay, wait, actually we got problems. let's backflip, see if you get sly. what is it called? hand trick that adds sly. dump a haze. 14 damage. put up a decent amount of play. you're gonna put some more garbage in our deck, but that's okay. it kills you next turn.
-
22:05
i mean he's really hanging in tough. it's a bit of a defensive showdown, let's put it that way. let's get another draw discard. i understand we should probably be paying attention to sleight of hand, but i'm going a little deeper, man. oh, we're going up. this might be the one time in my entire life i'm actually excited to be going up against the enemy that has slippery or the boss that has slippery. might as well put up some defense, man. like that actually seems awesome.
-
22:42
because he's going to blow out his slipperiness, and i know what i said and i would say it again. he's going to blow out his slipperiness against our thorns. which is good because we have like none attacks. but, okay, six damage per turn. gotta pay a little bit of attention. whatever, not too bad. i don't think any of those are too relevant for us. we'll probably rest before the boss though, in spite of the fact that i feel like we match up somewhat nicely.
-
23:21
may have to use a potion to get through you too. we'll see. you see how fast i played that? like, i was ready for that one, man. i was ready for it. both attacking on the same turn. there's never been a better use of the potion than that. drawing a zero cost card would go so crazy. whatever. a small bit of damage, you ain't gonna make it through life without getting a couple of scars, okay? took a risk.
-
24:02
cuz the weakness would be good. but you're gonna take a turn off anyway, which means you're dead. i got news for you. that means you're dead. i'm dead you are, okay? come on, and we got our potion back. i would happily take more decks, man. that's the type of stuff that deb was saying by the end of dexter, right? you know what i'm talking about, everybody? she was talking like that and everyone was going, what are you talking about? where did this come from? i don't know, man.
-
24:37
okay, a little bit of poison. i'm not gonna duplicate a footwork. obviously if we're gonna, that was stupid. i think if we're gonna duplicate anything, it's gonna be abrasive. but we don't have to really think about that until we dry. we can't even duplicate it because we're gonna play it off of sly, which is also fine for the record. but definitely wanna, what if we were to drink it now? they won't let us, we're already mid stack, bro.
-
25:12
okay, still huge. and then you get weakened and we have six thorns and you attack multiple times. so i'm not feeling too bad about this. and, you know, i mean, worst case scenario, we still have both of our potions, but that's not even always a bad thing because it means we can choose between three potions for what to bring to the next floor. it has a certain je ne sais quoi, man. and honestly, i think our thorns do so much damage. we don't have to take any bonus damage just to get haze out there. i don't know. i'm just playing cards, honestly.
-
25:48
you do add some trash into our deck. so like on a turn like this, this is pretty bad. maybe productive to keep you weak as long as possible. i mean four poison is literally like 10 damage, but eight poison eight poison is like 36 damage. i mean i'm just starting to feel the burn. i'm feeling like we want to make sure that we stay up on you as much as possible.
-
26:20
this is a big turn. your acrobatics, your backflip, draw two more cards, take no damage and then exclusively draw more defense, bro! we don't have to kill you, so to speak. we just have to get you in range of a fire potion. but we might need to go a little more all out than i thought we were going to have to go to get there. but a fire potion is actually like pretty nice, man.
-
26:56
so i think if possible, if you don't have to use it, being able to speed up a fight on the next floor would really help out. we got you. okay, good. used one potion. didn't get a potion either. they're trolling me. when you draw a card this turn, apply two poison to all enemies. so the thing is, we do be drawing cards. it's gotta be master planner. we're rebuilding the last run from base principles. no pales legion.
-
27:44
remove five cards, add them back, upgraded. honestly, i kind of like it. here's my thinking, okay? you're absolutely core. you, we can wait on you because we're not going to play you on basic combats to begin with. so we could dump you, dump you, you're not core, dump you because we might not even play you on basic combats. that's three right there and then the rest are just gravy, man. what else is not like mission critical?
-
28:22
i do kind of feel like we need leg sweep. i think we can get away with not having footwork for a minute. you're going to think i'm crazy. i'm not dumping backflip because it draws. i'm not dumping acrobatics or survivor because they discard. same with you and you're very important for blocking. i think you just throw a basic defend into the mix. crazy as it sounds, man. and it does sound a little crazy. you need the weakness. you know what? there's never been a smarter...
-
29:02
i thought the potion would override the nine damage, but it does. like they didn't screw me on that one. it says all damage man. odds of us drawing a discard engine pretty good. huge. actually an enormous pickup to be able to get that like that changes the timbre of the fight greatly. we still take more damage than i'd like but whatever man. welcome to life. you're not gonna make it out without any scars. you know like my classic catchphrase. you know what? at this point i feel like we have enough discard engines we could take advantage of more slide cards.
-
29:47
screw it. most important thing, we gotta get that abrasive out there for the low low price of on the house. and then next turn, next turn we're doing tricks on it, right? next time we're taking a little damage. so i'm taking a snekko's eye potion just like a little bit of prayer ball. now i'm taking no damage. okay. i mean, snekko eye potion to block seven damage. haters will say is fake.
-
30:27
might be big ups to the haters on that one to be honest with you. okay, the tunneler's in for a rude awakening. i am noticing a little problem with the run. the problem with the run is we do no damage. like we get super hard countered by an enemy that doesn't attack until it's scaled a bunch. or really just an enemy that scales at all.
-
30:57
like i've only done 32 damage to you and you're putting on your shield for the second time. that seems bad. you are taking six shield damage fairly often, but like that it seems like we might be on this fight for like another hour or two. this is kind of like the exact situation you take haze for. just to punch through the shields, but obviously that's not in the cards for us.
-
31:33
that being said, i'm realizing, i hope i haven't screwed it up too many times. we're taking really good advantage of art of war. finally, look at that. and then all of our high damage attacks, obviously we play right away. our prodigious amounts of high damage attacks need to get out there asap. this was a very high damage situation for us, man. i really thought we'd have a flick flack or something. once more? okay, i previously had thought
-
32:07
that i didn't really need haze back in the deck asap. i really need that back via pale's tooth, like, immediately. i need it back asap. what are we drawing? very low chance of this draw something trash. that's... that's the one. nah, we're chillin'.
-
32:33
one damage, no big deal. ain't nothing but a peanut. we're literally getting the value of five campfires out of pale's tooth, so i'm not gonna sit here and cry about the lot that we've been given in life. realizing some extra poison cards would go crazy, man. these do nothing for us. these are all defense. one shiv is not gonna change the calculus too much. i would happily pay 50 gold to upgrade my starting hands.
-
33:04
i don't think two strength gonna change it for us too much. you know what? okay, strike dummy, it does one extra damage man. or a calcum is never gonna work. okay, healing a little is okay. healing for one at the start of combat is okay. starting combat with four block. i actually think there's a case to be made for those. i didn't see did we, it would be so cute if you healed for like seven off of meal ticket when you went into the fake shop.
-
33:33
it might be completely imbalanced in the positive or the negative direction, but you can't deny it. it would be cute, okay? i also can't help but notice we're going up against another shield enemy. wait, we do. i was just gonna say there's a master planner doesn't work like that. there's an abrasive next turn. not much we can do about that is we're not gonna play it right now. we're not gonna backflip into it and not have the energy. i mean, so please a discard engine, got a discard engine.
-
34:10
get to play abrasive. it should be borderline impossible for us to get hit now. i really think we're at the point where we just need to take every poison card that shows up and it'll become sly on the second pass and then we just... we're really, really good at putting up block. we're just extremely bad at killing enemies before they can buff themselves to the point where they're incredibly dangerous.
-
34:44
didn't even do the math to see if we could sneak out some extra damage there, but alas. might as well cut it, because playing that should count as keeping it sly, i think. backflip, sly, neutralize, you're already weak. that's devastating. 16, we're taking seven damage, please? you guys are all sly? i mean, sly leg sweep is like endgame level for us. please, please, man, please, please. they're one hit away.
-
35:26
all we need to do is put up nice block or you can hit them for nine and my god it leaves them alive with one hp. and i live with one hp too. my god, they gave me hayes back man. okay, more discard engines. obviously we need the rest and then fight the elite. at least we have regal pillow. so this is and getting the poison back is so helpful, man. but this guy might ruin our life.
-
36:00
horrible starting turn by the way, but it is what it is. okay, huge. dump abrasive, get an energy back. dump haze, get some damage out there. hidden daggers can dump an untouchable, which means we're taking no damage and we get some shivs out of it. okay, wait, wait, you, i watched in real time. you started to believe a little bit. don't lie to me, walt. we need to draw neutralize. life is good.
-
36:33
we take nine damage, life is bad, but at least we did a little on the reflect. you need that haze out there. draw a discard engine, absolutely enormous. my discard engine does not get to the ones that are good to discard. it was my way of saying that leg sweep wasn't on, good, so i lose. leg sweep wasn't on sly yet. i lose, i lose, i lose. i find it seems to me to be unbelievable that we could lose that one. how do you lose that one?
-
37:16
well anyway, i still had fun. thanks for watching. i hope you've enjoyed it. if you did, click the like button. i'm still a great deal. of course, subscribe if you want to see more in the future. for now, thanks for watching. i'll see you next time. later!
