i'm on a different sort of run right now gamers. like not in the game, we're gonna abandon this one. this one was from last night when i had a little bit of free time. but last video, best ascension 10 win i've ever had. also beat ascension 20 as the ironclad on the bike today. so i'm feeling like not bad about my slay the spire skills right now with the ironclad and the silent at least. i also just drank a bunch of sparkling water which is why i'm burping a lot. i apologize for that.
-
0:32
let me get... losing 16 hp is just so devastating early, man. i feel like getting a potion slot is kind of like half of a good relic. and actually we got some amazing potions. we're on the docks, so we're likely to encounter aoe. i don't know. i don't know where to go. i will say that there is a three elite path. and with the kind of potion read that we've got going on right now, i do think that it's theoretically possible that at least two of them
-
1:05
at least two of them should be very doable for us. but i've been feeling like i've been making some good decisions in slay the spire lately. like what was my good decision on my bike ride this morning? taking a random rare that gave me barricade and then taking the next card reward which was an upgraded body slam and then just playing them, i guess.
-
1:30
i really like pull from below. the caveat that's obvious is that it sucks until we get a bunch of ethereal cards. but with a card like pull from below, you might think i would rather, because it's at the uncommon level like in feebling touch, that i would rather grab it after i get some ethereal. so what i don't want to do is build around ethereality.
-
1:59
then never get the the nuke, you know never get the pull from below so i thought it made it a little bit more sense to just grab the the pull from below as it stands steampunk is over for you buddy. all i need is one attack if it's the right attack okay, we should use some potions though a second pull from below is crazy but obviously at some point you do need some ethereal cards getting like almost exactly the same card rewards it's kind of kind of nice honestly because we wanted both last time and
-
2:33
let me think about this one. this might be a double up situation. and by double up i mean use a potion. i don't know why that would be doubling up but i guess because i played two strikes that's how my brain came up with the sentence double up for the phrase. oste's attacks deal four additional damage. i think this is a... i want it to be a skip.
-
3:05
but a summon that is basically a block that exhausts is not necessarily the end of the world. and i do think drain power is like pretty good. it just gets worse over time. but i feel like having one of them in your deck right now, it gives you one extra decent attack at the expense, and it is a little bit of an expense, but at the expense of, um, while permanently kind of thinning the odds that you draw exactly the cards you want to draw in every circumstance.
-
3:37
huge. we're gonna take a nasty hit here for sure. this does at least neutralize most of the damage. in feebling touch, we must kill you this turn, right? does 12 damage. we kill you, but you won't do that much damage to us. but we have to play in feebling touch, bro. no, you don't. you have to play in feebling touch against bosses because you need the pull from below scaling. you don't have to play in feebling touch here.
-
4:12
let's state the obvious though, this guy is scaling so fast this is actually gonna suck really bad. i don't even think i could do 27 damage to you in one turn. honestly, there's no better use for this potion than at least blocking some of that. please tell me i can at least get to... just barely get to 21 damage, man. another ethereal card. defile is actually a lot of damage too, this is big. okay, what do we got? another ethereal, enfeebling touch. i think it's worth taking.
-
4:49
and then give me the colorless potion, because i do think i'm gonna get a little aggro here. i think i want... maybe just start with pull from below, because we know we want to be there eventually. and then you... are these the only elite that you can face on this floor? i think we just want a discovery, because it's an incredible card. and then, i mean, damaim is just a crazy card. we have four energy, so we'll play our four best cards. it's that simple.
-
5:28
like i said, that simple. we take two damage, but a pretty important turn for us overall. and then, oh my god, you already do 21 damage? but we can make it even better. take you out for a turn. oh, i can't play another ethereal this turn. we probably do just ice you then, which is like really, really suboptimal. but well, 37 if i hit you for seven.
-
5:56
you go back to 37. nah, it would have just to have one more ethereal card would have been crazy, but i guess we don't have any. fair enough. still doesn't it seem like so much more important to set up the possibility of like two kills next turn? like take a take four damage, but then if we can kill two of the snakes on the same turn, that's enormous for us and we definitely can. like a pull from below just it's such overkill, but
-
6:35
you might as well and then you only have to play one of those and then we're really just stalling until pull from below comes back around wait this deck is actually kind of doing something which i'm very grateful for a horrible order i'm very great i'm grateful for because i wasn't totally sure that
-
6:58
i knew what i was doing to be honest. the order of which we're playing these cards is so horrible. we could have easily just played the bodyguard, gotten a kill here and then just put up enough block for you. but lucky for us, not really much in the way of consequences there. i think having one borrowed time will always be nice. the problem for us without a doubt is that that was with domain, which we are not gonna have on the regular. i actually think we rest.
-
7:29
and then maybe try to get the extra two elite fights, man. red mask is all right. heal 24 or enchant to defend with a spiral. i still am a believer that a defend with a spiral is not only good, but also maybe good enough to be an upgrade target. and on turn one, i mean, you're gonna give me a bone broth and an unleashed in the hand. obviously, we're gonna take you up on that.
-
8:01
getting a little bit cheesed here because we got no ethereals, but then we got all of our ethereals on the same turn. as much as i like defile, i think it's more important to keep the enfeebling touches. i guess the other thing you could do is just say, hey, forget that. just do 13 damage instead of 14, keep it in your deck and scale pull from below one extra time. almost made a
-
8:27
grievous error, man. let's strike and then drain power so we get two cards upgraded. and pull from below is getting kind of crazy, i think. still not quite ready. 16, you live with one. mostly i like that you live with one because that means we take zero. and then this, it basically could not be better for us. because all we need now is to draw it on this turn or the next turn. and by it, i mean pull from below.
-
9:00
or even just like two attacks in general or one defile. like holy cow, we didn't even use a potion for that. that's kind of crazy. sculpting strike to make a card in hand, ethereal. oh baby. and with 100 gold, let's hit a shop. worst case scenario, we cut something.
-
9:22
and you know what? i feel like at this point these cards are like so good for us. i would happily cut a basic strike. all of our attacks we basically want to be ethereal. now we're locked into a path so it's a little spooky. but also like, forgive me for saying it, but what do we really care if this dude takes our gold? i hate that he's taking my money, but taking my gold doesn't really matter because we had zero of it. um, doing one damage.
-
9:57
i don't really want to add ethereal to a card in hand on this one. because we won't be able to play it and scale it, so i think we're better off just chillin'. similarly, continue the chillage. a turn in which we could break you is much better for us. we don't you know what you do? i got a kill by accident like a fool. uh, play ethereal bodyguard. pull from below is coming out on the next turn, but we really like i don't see why we would prioritize this guy.
-
10:31
we'll still kill him because we basically can't not, but like, there wasn't much reason for it. i don't necessarily think we need another defile with what we've got going on. how many ethereal cards do we have? one, two, three, three? okay, i'll take another defile. i thought we would be cooking a little bit more than that, but that's okay. three damage, no sweat. that's double defile territory. this might be the first time we can actually kill this enemy in five turns.
-
11:06
put it on the defend cuz i think we're gonna definitely play that. of course he actually like hard counters are built. it's definitely not gonna be five turns. why wouldn't you play borrowed time bro? he's definitely he hard counters are built because of the fact that he has a damage cap of what he can take but still being able to cut eight strength from him has proved pretty freaking good. still two more turns left sadly.
-
11:43
and no bonus defense here. still pretty good. i mean, considering we're the necrobinder, it feels wrong to say something like i'm the necrobinder and not say baby afterwards. but just the way of the world these days, man. we can't all be the joker baby. regardless, this is freaking working, man. and that second pull from below, to quote ben stiller in meet the parents 2, also known as meet the fockers, but i didn't want to necessarily get demonetized.
-
12:19
i'm a lookin' and i'm a likin'. let's let the beckon... i mean, it costs us 6 hp. this would only give us 5. let's play the beckon to scale pull from below. and now your curses are working against you. your curses are working against you. and you thought you were smart. sad story. tale as old as time, bro. song as old as rhyme. beauty and the beast, look it up. angela lansbury. one of those. 35 damage coming up on this one.
-
12:56
i don't think we're gonna die. i will acknowledge that if we draw the worst pull from below of all time, it in theory could happen. but i do think we only need a couple pull from below to really ruin your life. now i didn't necessarily mean on the same turn, but i'm definitely not gonna complain about that because that was like a hundred and something damage. the, oh, actually, it's getting pretty close. wait, we're actually getting pretty dead.
-
13:34
are you trolling me? i can't live because you're gonna do 25. i'm gonna take six damage. i shouldn't have played the sculpting strike. oh my god. oh my god. i can't believe it. we had, it was such an incredible run. we needed to draw one attack and we drew none attacks. we drew exclusively beckons, but i'm refusing to blame myself in any way for this. i'm always disappointed by this. wow. let's do it, man.
-
14:05
poke, graveblast, dirge. actually, like, the fact that you get rattle and an oste attack seems good, man. now, was 99 gold worth it for the three card rewards? and what are we, are we on the underdocs or are we on the... this looks like the underdocs to a beast like me. six damage i can't do anything about. i'll come back. i still, i'm kind of stunned that we're not on the second floor. uh, because i really thought, like,
-
14:42
the fish is the boss that scares me the least too, but maybe it's time to reevaluate my priorities on that one. we basically do have an oste build. screw it, let's be aggressive, man. especially cuz i've got 14 gold, i guess being aggressive here makes a lot of sense. but being aggressive means trying to fight three elites.
-
15:15
rattle is much like pull from below, it just scales based on a different metric. it scales based on oste attacks instead of ethereals. now, enfeebling touch, i think it's still, it's like a different version of piercing whale from the ironclad. i still think it's good to add, man. and by the way, you might say, nl, you might say, nl, why did you do one flatten instead of two strikes? it scales rattle. no, no, it doesn't. never mind.
-
15:51
never mind. it's kind of embarrassing because i've used the card before. so i forgot rattle scales per turn, whereas pull from below scales based on the number of plays total. this great blast doesn't go to zero. still, great blast bringing back a poke could be a big combo enabler for us. i mean, this isn't even really very good for us. this guy does too much damage. i'm gonna say it. the order kind of sucks here, but
-
16:40
i suppose it had to be done. i'm a little worried. i know i said we were fighting three elites. i'm kind of a little worried about fighting one elite right now. the elite right in front of us. huge opportunity for some doom. our deck's a little scattershot for sure. this does 21 damage. pretty important, but like it's also important that we don't take much damage because we have to fight this elite that's coming right up.
-
17:13
i still did so funny that i thought i was, i'd outsmarted the game. particularly funny when you consider some of the mistakes you've seen me make in this game over the years, but either way you're cooked lad, we made it. pull aggro, i don't really like it, but it is something that can buff our oste. so we might be thinking that there's something to it. 26 damage off three energy, i can live with that.
-
17:48
playing an ethereal touch or if you infeabling touch so we could play an infeabling touch later. very good sire. it's great blast. i'm hoping to break you know what a pull aggro is actually huge here because it's 11 block. effectively 11 block anyway. rattle on the other hand not huge here. can i do 13 damage? can i do i doubt i can do 23 damage but wait a minute i could eat i could do 29 damage. for now i do think a wisp is relevant and
-
18:22
brain the lens is really important. okay, well, let's take a chance on it, man. we have to do some damage. we also have to not take too much damage. give it to me straight, doc. am i gonna make it? i'm feeling pessimistic about it, to be honest with you. eight doom could actually help us out more so than the extra raw damage, i think.
-
19:03
two of these and we live to apply some more doom. like, doom kind of allows us to short circuit your win condition. at some point we do need to do damage though. i don't even want to do the math. i'm pretty sure we live. and then i thought you took a turn off. i thought we were gonna make it because we took a turn off. not even any point to striking you on this turn. 12 damage. nice try, punk. we live to fight one more day. 19 damage.
-
19:44
nasty way to go, man. wait, we have 20 hp. yes, yes, yes, okay. i do think lethality is kind of like an always day. no, not to these guys. after everything we've been through, we got to get to work on this one, man. please for the love of god. wait, this is like the most beautiful turn i could ever ask for. smack, this is already getting lethal. smack, smack, okay, that.
-
20:25
could not have gone better. dang, they got shroud in this game? 007 first light, eat your heart out, man. okay, so we were planning to fight three elites. i would honestly be thrilled to survive two and dodge the third one. i think if anything, a doubled up pull aggro is maybe our best option here. and then maybe save that rattle so you can get it off. and we've retained for two turns. so we'd love to, what else you got here?
-
21:10
i mean, because we retain, could have brought back an attack. we're gonna have a full hand for sure. my god, it's a full hand and it sucks. to what do i owe the pleasure man? cuz now we're dumping rattle next turn, right? my god, we lost our oste with the mosty. mission failed, bro. and i will always play the bodyguard last. that's an nl guarantee, bro. i really don't wanna lose this but
-
21:54
i have to hit you. what are you doing? like 36 damage. that's an awful lot. guess what? 37 life. now all we got to do is 40 damage in a single turn. obviously not going to happen. okay. everything's fine. everything's good. everything's groovy. i really thought our run was going to be a little bit more offensive than that. i think i was still, that was our rebound. honestly, we were still dealing with the hangover of having lost the run right before it, which is still to me seems impossible.
-
22:28
i went straight for the greed. and you know why i went straight for the greed? 300 gold, bro. 300 gold for a curse. it's like half a spoils map, but with the benefit of not having to go through carrying the spoils map. we get half the gold right now. now, please note, point dexter. that's not me saying it's better than spoils map, because i'll take both. i love a good high five, man. now, to get a shop here would be kind of sick.
-
23:03
five, five. is there anything you could just add to the run? i mean even scourge is not bad. 13 doom and a draw for one. kind of like the cool headed of the necrobinder deck, i think. i do like death march if we have a soul build going, but honestly, toss me a capture spirit. this is a card i want to like because i think it is good.
-
23:35
festive popper floor one, i'm pogging. i think it is good. i just have never made it pop off except as like a complimentary piece. but even that doesn't mean it's bad. holy cow, this couldn't have gone better, man. now we do, we've got a lot of detritus in our deck for sure. but all we need to do is find a shop and everything's okay. yeah, man, give me right hand hand. high five cost too, right? yeah, okay, so there's our recycling engine.
-
24:07
i'm definitely not going to lose all my gold to transform two cards. i think you can probably figure out why. now this couldn't have gone worse. close, very close. i definitely feel like we're in the jungle this time though. that's unfortunate. let me think. definitely looks like an oste attack build to me. it's unfortunate because we're not really, i guess we're a little aoe coded now that i think about it. i don't know what we're in the jungle, so we're fighting single targets.
-
24:52
well, that's no help at all. well, it's the single target that's also aoe. what a beautiful day for us. and you're gonna fill our deck with all sorts of garbage, which is truly terrible. huge. some energy too. but truly terrible cuz our deck is already pretty thick with curses and statuses. but obviously we wanna break you. let's retain just a basic strike. play a bodyguard.
-
25:30
what we really want to see next turn obviously is high five, which might even kill you. we didn't get high five. very unfortunate. are we guaranteed? we're guaranteed because we'll draw a soul. so i actually shouldn't have attacked you. i could have attacked somebody else, but small price to pay. i still think we're guaranteed and let's get to work. still guaranteed. i freaking told you. you get iced.
-
26:10
you get iced and then one defend would really hit the spot or i could just kill you and then not take any damage that that was amazing i'm worried about adding more oste attacks until we get like a calcify and because poke is common i think we could just we could get it elsewhere first hand you draw each combat is upgraded. sure, man. sign me up without any weakness i do feel like i'm a little scared here. i
-
26:44
probably do want to use the speed potion on a turn because like this is like the party started man. get ready. snap and retain a strike. obviously we're not going to play a defend this turn so we got to figure out his next turn or are we just going in? i think this is a just go in situation because we only have one block anyway. in which case we probably would rather
-
27:15
play that. oh, but then high five does 23. and you get one attack left. 23 versus 16 plus 10. i mean this brings back one more attack, but she's gonna do seven damage. all right. good night. good night, y'all. good night, y'all. why couldn't we have just, if we just lived, if we just lived on that first run, if that fish hadn't been intangible on the wrong turn, we would be, we would be probably on our second loop of ascension 10 by now.
-
27:51
okay, early scythe. we don't have to win ascension 10 to gain morale here, but at least not dying till the first or the second elite would hit the spot. and i think this is probably pretty obvious, but getting this scythe upgraded early and doing as much combat as possible could pay huge dividends, especially if
-
28:13
we could, and i'm hoping the game would find it and it's hard to do this for us, but if we could find a way to make the card not exhaust. and off the top of my head there are a couple of ways to do that. one would be to get the, i don't know if you call it a charm, a sigil, an enchantment that makes an exhausting card no longer exhaust.
-
28:37
or you could get ironclad cards and get an exhum and then you could at least, well i don't even know, exhum might not even be in slay the spire 2. let's slay the spire 1 talk. okay, fear plus a scythe. we're cooking with gas here. and for now, i recognize this is the second encounter, but for now, i think we should be really pleased that we're against a single target because we're a very single target focused individual.
-
29:13
you don't have to kill an enemy with scythe to get the damage bonus, by the way. huge. 19 damage already. i do think the file is just a good attack. early on, a strike that's actually two strikes seems really nice. i hate to take a bunch of damage, but honestly, i look at it as front loading the damage so that we take less damage over the end of the fight because you're already half dead. no problem with that. the file first, please, next time.
-
29:48
i think maybe a so just to have some aoe covering. maybe think for more than like a millisecond before you choose what you're gonna do by the way. omni slice is also aoe. not that it matters as much because we're on the jungle but you still, you're still gonna want to, you know, there's gonna be hallway fights where you have to deal with multiple enemies. i don't think there's anything to be demure about there. i think that the fire potion
-
30:20
is better on this floor because the elites are likely to be single target or a hybrid of both. i hate this individual right here. i don't like you. i don't like... you're annoying, but you're in a class all of your own. i hate to do it, man. go ahead and hit me. do we have a campfire than an elite? this might be a situation where we dodge elites
-
31:07
and the reason that i would give is that scythe getting upgraded is probably the most important thing that we could possibly have going on right now. that was huge. this does 28 damage. that's beautiful. it's almost like we planned it. but you're like, nl, no, no, no. nice try, buddy. we would never believe you planned anything in this game. honestly, it was an optimum opportunity to use a potion as well, because yeah, exactly. we're about to get another one. but in spite of myself, i like the deck right now.
-
31:45
the files removed. you know what? i refuse. well, i lived. oh, what do you got for me? the problem is so much of our damage is based on scythe, which is great. and oh no, not this boss man is great until you remember that we like need to hit the boss so much to actually kill them like and then discard obviously exhausts
-
32:33
do we just put a, i mean, i genuinely think if we don't take something like no escape, we lose. so i think i added it to the deck just in the hopes that maybe we could live. we're gonna, but we need this too and they're both ethereal. if we could just draw no escape enough, maybe we could just kill you through doom. of course that would require actually drawing the card, of course. future five, very big here.
-
33:04
a little bit of doom and then might as well play that. i have a feeling we're not gonna get to put 170 doom on you. we did punch through your slippery, which is more than i could have hoped for. i'm hoping this is one of those things where you need deceptively little damage done to you in order to get you killed. literally we're dead by the way. but i'll give you everything i got here.
-
33:39
even with the strength and the potions we weren't even close. okay, well this was just a cursed episode as soon as we died to that first boss, but i really, i really thought that run was so good. for now, thanks for watching. i've been humbled. i thought i was above my station and i was wrong. for now, thanks for watching. i'll be enjoyed. click the like button. subscribe if you want to see more in the future. i'll be back with another one.
