chat, we're back. can i say something? worst way to start a slay the spire 2 video on youtube? finishing a run that i didn't have time to finish on twitch, but just hear me out here. wait, i had to leave. i had eight people waiting on me. there was no other way about it. what is the premise of this deck? play two cards every turn and then don't die because you have diamond die, adam. i'm going to take anointed for this purpose.
-
0:24
what do we want? anointed puts every rare in our hand. our rares aren't even good. why the heck did i take anointed? play this. we can play more than two cards on the first turn. i also have chemical x. it's worth noting, which is awesome because i can play multicast for zero. okay. so i don't know if this will work and this will not be the whole video, but i don't know. just give me a second here, okay? just give me a chance to make it work. we can play two cards. give me a defend. give me a block.
-
0:57
also known as a defend, and then pass my turn we take one damage. how do we get a kill shot here? that's a great question. i have absolutely no answer for you. we'll put up a little block. how does that sound? and then we'll put up a little glass work. we're only playing two cards per turn because we want diamond diadem to actually get a chance to work so that one day maybe i learn how to pronounce it. you cost us energy when we play things, okay? we play one and we play two. i think it's important for us to let our darkness orb get as stacked as possible.
-
1:36
do you normally exhaust? none of them normally exhaust. it would be huge to get like more lightning, but you know what? i think for now, for now we play that, we pass our turn. i know it's a bold strategy to like fill your deck with good cards and then never use them, but you just got to trust me on this one, okay? 15 damage also not good. who's next? test subject next? nah, it might be over for our heroes, man.
-
2:12
i've done 50 damage in like 10 turns. that seems really bad. you're doing 30? how about one of these? and then i have no energy, which makes sense, i suppose. let's alter the terms of our strategy and try to maybe actually play some attacks. what is this turn? you cannot draw extra during your turn. i mean, a huge frost evoke and then a two piece lightning. it seems all right.
-
2:52
that turn we definitely could have played more cards, but honestly that helix drill is not it. i don't know what it's doing here. sorry guys, i've started the run. i really thought this run was good and now i'm realizing that it's like the most boring run that's ever existed and it's like every run i've done recently all i do is play blocks. which might be a viable strategy to be honest, but i also paid no attention to what turn of the door maker i was. i mean starting the run in media res can be a little bit tough.
-
3:28
that being said, i still think maybe there's a chance we make it through this one. that was a pretty sizable turn. you're doing 22 damage. it might be a little tricky. it might be a little impossible, but 51 damage. that's tough. 22. that's a lot better. and then summon two lightning, which is way more than two lightning. darkness orb up to the front and then hope for like a big turn with a multicast. five.
-
4:09
multicast does not get the job done, but five multicasts it does get the job done i don't know what i'm talking about. okay. well now all we got to do is beat the test subject taking literally zero damage that should be easy i'm not even sure i want a catastrophe free tempest with chemical x at the start of every turn is kind of awesome though okay, so we want to play two cards or less big glass work with a van brace past your turn because i think the first
-
4:50
the first tempest counts as a card, i believe. so we're at a tier 12. give me one of those and then play nothing. if this works, this would be an all time moment that only i care about. no, i'm sure everybody else is like, we don't care if this ascension 10 run that we didn't see at all comes to pass. but that's like, i could save it and never play swayless wire again, or i could just at least try to finish it off here, man. you gotta give it a chance at the very least.
-
5:25
we need a big block. we need a big block and that's not gonna happen, man. i don't think there's any way to stay alive here. so the way to stay alive would be play catastrophe and hope that it hits two blocks. and we've only played two cards. as good as tempest is, we have to pass. obviously, okay, because catastrophe counts as a card as well. that makes, yeah, catastrophe is one card that plays two, which is three cards. for some reason, i was like, that's only two cards.
-
6:03
all right, anyway, we ran the ironclad. it comes from the land of the, are you pumped bro? are you pumped? dude straight up, take the damage off that bash, call me in the morning. i honestly think thrash might be one of the cards i overrated the most the first time i ever got it in slay the spire 2, but that does not mean that it's bad. i just think that i overrated it.
-
6:39
i mean, again, i default to the wisdom of megacrit. like, they're smarter... within the domain of balancing slay the spire, they're smarter than we are. so i give them credit that if this is a rare, it's probably a rare for a reason. i can't justify not taking a whirlwind as our first card reward, knowing how much aoe is probably around the corner for us, because like every fight except for elites is aoe. by the way, i should mention, i've seen your comments about the...
-
7:13
distinction between the number of fights that are aoe and the number of fights that are not aoe on the jungle versus the underdocs. and i'll admit, i was operating under the assumption that the aoe was a little bit closer to 50 50 on the underdocs and like, i guess none on the jungle. and it turns out it's one
-
7:41
on the underdocs and none on the jungle. so i should stop taking aoe is smart, but i should stop using aoe as a justification, i suppose. all right. and using the elites as a justification to take aoe. you take aoe because it's good on the hallway fights. anyway, by the way, i wasn't even talking about what we were doing on the run there. so i apologize. but we took
-
8:11
set up strike and those are big decisions. we took set up strike because it's good with whirlwind. it's essentially and then i took burdana say because i haven't done a run with burdana say i think since like maybe the day the freaking game came out man so i barely remember what it does but i know it could either be you could hatch it into like a multi hitter or you can hatch it into
-
8:37
i don't remember at all. i have no memory whatsoever of what this does for us. i love rage as a card. i think i've literally hatched the bird once. and because it was the first run i ever did, i was like, oh, so we'll get this bird on every single run? and i don't think i've had him since. now, if i may, i have had the option to take it and then been like, no, i need the hp or whatever. but this strikes me as a bit of a different story.
-
9:08
anyway, the run is very, it seemed, well, until you started doing 24 damage. i was thinking that this run felt pretty stable. it still doesn't kill you, which hurts a great deal. we'll be taking a lot of damage on this fight, but i still think saving the entropic could be the play. maybe, maybe not.
-
9:32
i like an infernal blade and i do want to hatch this bad boy. hatch your bradanas egg. it's just a zero cost attack that does 14 damage. okay, i mean it's not bad. talk about a lucky question mark. holy cow. and we can make it do 18 damage which is great. wait, that's great for thrash. the fact that it
-
9:55
thrash could steal that damage, but we got to make sure we're doing it on a long fight. otherwise, we'd probably rather just have the 14 damage. so we're introducing an element of wow. we're introducing an element of pilot error, which is always a little scary. i think we do want to go here. let's try man. i can understand why you'd be mad. but i can't let you get close to me. what i can't let you get close. you know what i'm talking about? chael saunon anybody? i've been the video has been living rent free in my head today.
-
10:31
i can't let you get close. let's... why did you cost zero? why did you cost zero? that's awesome. i'm not mad. i used entropic brew and then i used... i should be able to figure this out. i've only played one... oh, because it came from inferno blade. okay. that's confusing because i had one in my deck. i understand. you know what? the fight will not go on long enough to justify playing the rampage. we'll be better off
-
11:07
i think. sucking that nine damage up and hoping to kill you quick. now we really don't want to take too much more damage against you, but we also don't want to die against you. so there's a lot going on right now. i need to kill you next turn. that might require drawing thrash. we literally get there with a bird swoop. we get a big heal off thanks to meat on the bone. meat on the bone is the only reason i felt like even slightly comfortable taking this path. let's take a true grit. how about a healing option? this is, if you think about it,
-
11:46
if you think about it, this is kind of a healing option. set up, defend, defend. okay. we can do 24 damage. well, that is nice. it's just gonna simplify the fight a little bit to not have as many fellas around. you probably don't wanna thrash that hits a whirlwind, right? you wanna play the whirlwind, but how are you gonna play it? well, you're gonna let god decide.
-
12:20
wrong card died. still, there's a big heal waiting for us here, man. we took one that big heal waiting for us, which is awesome. grash is still popping. dex potion could be nice depending on who we're going up against. give me a shrug as well. i mean, we're in the gauntlet right now for sure. i'll exhaust. id not hitting a set up strike is huge. why wouldn't you attack? for some reason in my head, i'm like, you're the log of ullin.
-
12:52
there's really not much reason not to play an attack against this enemy. we shrug cuz we can, and then we play our two strikes cuz these get more damage off of it. tough choice. hear me out, play one defend, max out your whirlwind. my thinking is like a thrash coming around later might be more valuable. this is like almost the same turn. this is horrible, man.
-
13:38
i guess you play a bash and then we die. like there's no you attack for 25, i can't do 60 damage to you in a single turn. unless! wait wait wait wait wait, i can at least hurt you a lot. and then do six oh my god i could actually kill you and heal a little bit, that's so crazy. uh yes, give me a mangle. and then i was hoping there'd be a little heal and there is. i'll i hate to do it, i'll drop the dex potion to buy the blood potion. and then um...
-
14:17
i mean, two extra strength, pretty good. we're very early. strike does extra damage. yeah, i mean it's not the be all end all, but that versus meal ticket versus removal. no, we could still do removal. a thrash getting added to our hand, would it be amazing? is this like run winning for us to have this? we take that, where do we go?
-
14:52
286, in that case give me a strike dummy. and then as crazy as this sounds, cut a strike after. the strike dummy is just for now, it's not forever. nine damage to all enemies, it's just nice to have the aoe. especially for, and this is the half aoe. what can i say? juggling immediately proving that it was the right choice to take at least for this fight. maybe not forever, but for this fight it did some crazy work. you know what?
-
15:37
playboy, do me a favor here. suck up that bash. exhaust that defend. i mean, we're a set up strike and a whirlwind away from feeling mighty nice about how things are looking here. well, you're still cooked. you'll get cooked next turn. i mean, this has been a really good fight considering we haven't even had to use a potion. i mean, we used a blood potion on the shop. that should probably count. to be honest, that should probably count. if i gain two strength, we can let you live. it actually doesn't matter
-
16:13
that you live we do take three damage not a big deal, but like we didn't have a defendant hand to offset it anyway so i think that that made a lot of sense petrified toad. oh, i have a hard time using it appropriately which is not its fault, but let me get a big blocker. are we really? this guy's pretty easy. you just gotta not let him get close yeah, what you can i i don't want the video to get demonetized, but i can't let i can't let you get close give me a second here
-
16:54
that way you'll understand what i'm going for here, okay? just give it a second. stop. you have to stop. i can't let you get close. i can't hit the line like he hits it. i can't let you get close. it's so classic. i think i rest. i think i'm engaging in daniel kahneman style loss aversion thinking right now. i think i'm thinking like, oh, i'll feel so bad if the fight goes well.
-
17:27
but i won't feel bad if the fight, and i rest. but i don't think i'll feel bad if the fight goes well and i rest. i think i'll be like, yay, i won the fight. i don't think i'll have negative emotions about it at all. and you know the deal with this fella. you're just waiting until you can get the slippery done. i mean, mangle is like a must play card. i get that we could suck it up with thrash, but enemy losing 10 strength is so huge for us. and then we only get one energy off it, huh?
-
18:05
okay, well take 20. you need the swoop. three of these get taken care of. the reason i'm not going to use the potion to get rid of slippery is because a potion does more damage than an attack right now for most of our attacks. so now to be fair, well, you know what? this is actually radiant tincture. use this, play that and then you can throw it at them. w sequencing and we get extra energy on future turns as well. now, if possible,
-
18:42
oh, that's right. now if possible, it would be good to start sequencing this thrash, which is still like way behind the curve, i think. and then you double up on that so we at least get one more of those out there. you take a turn off. our thrash is like really slow right now. i mean, i'm not going to play a blood wall for no reason. our thrash is still just doing four damage, man. and if i'm being honest, unlikely to flip around. like we're very unlikely to draw it again, but
-
19:16
at least we got to play an iron wave in there and take no damage. i think you do like exactly the same strategy. i forgot we couldn't play it again because we don't have that extra energy anymore. so i died. the good news about that is it turns out you didn't have to worry about
-
19:36
kahneman style loss aversion thinking resting was the right choice because otherwise you're probably dead. playing a thrash earlier instead of playing that mangle when he was doing 30 damage might have actually been the move but it's really, these are tough calls, these are tough bosses in the first act man. transform a basic defend for me man, what do you got? conflagration, nice aoe building out to
-
20:08
incentivize low cost attacks or a lot of energy. okay. two additional damage for every attack played this turn. i mean, one energy for 10 damage to one unit is not very efficient, but it's not my fault that there's just, i mean, the c punk ride solo. that's simple. anger is exactly what we'd be looking for. and okay, great question marks right off the bat. you do wonder if there's not
-
20:45
i mean, the taunt is just so good. i just am trying to avoid the temptation to build a vulnerable deck like every single time, but to be fair, taunt is really, i mean, even evil eye is pretty awesome. we just don't have any cards that get exhausted right now. and we're unsure if we're gonna be building towards that in the future. we take some damage, we take some damage, we take some damage, we take some damage. i feel comfortable right there. i think that's pretty good.
-
21:16
and you know what? let's go for the elite fight, man. i actually feel like we're relatively strong. that's gonna be great next turn. well, we take four damage. deal for six. that's still big. infernal blade also creates a card that costs zero. so i feel like these are great for conflagration. two vulnerable is undeniable though. the extra one block obviously, like who cares? but you know what? i'm not playing another. you're gonna put me in a situation where i don't get the attack so i need
-
21:58
fine, i'm not gonna play anything. you can't make me play anything. now obviously this basically was perfect the sequencing on the games part which i appreciate. go ahead and give me a molten fist. maybe that is the play man. great conflagration. start with the distilled chaos. one attack is fine. at least we don't feel like we have to play our block. still did a number on them. i mean it didn't win the fight by itself but it did a number on them. you're so freaking lucky. you're so lucky man.
-
22:44
it's crazy that you're possibly gonna live through this for one more attack. i did, i kind of went all in there, but it felt right. we'd like to make sure you die. not 100% sure that that's a thing that can be done. end damage. i can definitely kill you. oh my god, i killed everybody. i'm bad at math? is this how i find out?
-
23:25
let me think about this for a second. i think our block is pretty good. bloodwall, it's not the hp. it's also that it's a little expensive. smaller blocks are more efficient because they get like two one cost blocks will tend to do better because they both have nimble from franal glass or whatever. it's called franal lens. i think i like having unarmaments, especially because we're dodging some campfires here. lots of healing is great. i'm gonna bet on keeping the deck a little thinner for now.
-
24:10
i didn't like the way that had to be played, but i also didn't want to take damage, man. bully, how much damage does bully do? nine, so we would have to do that. we're kind of, i mean, it's a sequencing issue. we need conflagration to show up at the right time. getting a little bit closer, but still also getting a little annoyed. definitely still getting a little annoyed. i bet i can do 14 damage to you next turn. we actually heal for eight at the end of every combat, which is really good.
-
24:53
i think we like an uppercut. sometimes i need convincing on uppercut, but every time i play it i'm like, i'm so glad i'm playing this card. i really thought i had the energy to also to bash end uppercut to be honest. i guess we'll do it like was kind of a waste of our potion, but we get energy next turn too.
-
25:24
you might be wondering, and now what do you think is the worst elite that you could fight on this floor? i think that it's a testament to the balance of the game that the worst elite that i could fight on any floor of slay the spire is the one that i'm fighting right now. whichever one i'm fighting, unless i have like the perfect potion that solves it, i'm always like, well, this enemy is definitely the worst. like this guy's the worst cuz i have burst damage. i think this is a nothing.
-
25:57
but when you don't have anything for aoe and you end up fighting the aoe, and there are some aoe guys, even though it's only one of them is only half of a guy. don't lie to me, walt. i don't think we can get a kill. 13 and then, well, that's probably, you would do eight damage into it. no, no, no, you would do 13 damage and then this would do nine. you could do like 22 damage. yeah, that's not awesome. i think in that case,
-
26:39
you do this. even though putting up no vuln seems very wrong, it allows you to sneak out one kill. now the thing is, you're gonna be hitting really hard next turn, but at least you're not both attacking on the same turn. oh, i didn't do the math right. i keep playing, i think that it's infernal blade. i keep playing infernal blade.
-
27:05
and being like, you cost zero, right? and then it doesn't cost zero. also this was stupid, i could have easily knocked you out and then you wouldn't have attacked. but alas, but it could be worse honestly, and you're gonna give us a potion. source, it's been a while. first time you gain block from a card each turn double the block. i don't know, it seems good. don't really think i need to go all in on molten fist right now. now this is a different story.
-
27:50
we taunt, bash, conflagration does some good damage. now we wanna see molten fist as soon as possible cuz it also works with, was bully in our deck or is bully came from infernal blade? okay, he will can use this pretty good. not sure if he should have wasted all his time jumping motorcycles over school buses and stuff but he will can use is still one of the all time daredevils without a doubt. wait, this guy is not the hardest elite. this is the easiest elite for sure. i'm going immediately back on what i said.
-
28:27
we don't necessarily need a second molten fist yet, but it is really like the more of them you get the better they are. so sure. and i mean it does do 10 damage just by itself. okay, let's rest. hope we get something good out of our infernal blade. not so much. oh, an exhaust! good thing i have a second one. i really need unmovable too. not yet though apparently. let's get the vuln whipping about.
-
29:13
i do really want to moveable, but i think we got the right order to put a lot of vulnerability on you just so i don't have to pay for vulnerability in the future. right, right, right, right, right. not really a huge term for conflagration, but still crazy, crazy that the disrespect that the soulfish treats me with man, the beckons not exhausting is so it's a criminal act essentially that they would do this.
-
29:45
not just to me, but to you as well. i'm trying to do a lot of damage on the turns in which they're not intangible. even on this one, i feel like i would rather hit them and play the back end. i may regret this decision, but it is what it is. now this turn you're intangible. great turn to play two back ends. this turn, this turn you gotta do damage. now next turn we gotta kill you, because otherwise you're gonna kill me. it's going to happen.
-
30:29
okay, the deck has a certain degree of workability right now. what do we like? mangle, thrash? i think it's brand. mangle can be really good. i think it's brand. i was just gonna say brand works with spite, but that's literally from infernal blade. i think i should stop taking infernal blade cuz i keep making deck building decisions based on what comes out of the card.
-
31:04
energy the start of each turn card rewards now contain cards from other color break is just an insNLy good card to man one energy five vulnerable. i mean, okay against my initial wishes. i think we must admit this is a vulnerable deck so let's get the cards that that work best in a vulnerable deck for example bully if we could buy a bully that would be nice dominate deserve
-
31:42
these are things that would work very well for us. good idea, gain the strength after you've already attacked, but don't do three damage. village might be important. this will do eight damage. that's not a lot, man. but it's enough when combined with its other friend there to make that happen. now do i, we probably, i gotta say we don't need it, which is crazy cuz it's a good card.
-
32:17
i'm gonna say we don't need it and keep the deck thin because we're repurposing and it is a vuln source but it's a vuln source that's tough for us to get the energy to play. i know it's a bit of a it's a bit of a crazy choice but can i say something to you? i'm a bit of a crazy guy. i'm a bit of a crazy guy and i love 20 cards oh oh
-
32:38
whoa, have you ever heard of card removal? hey, enel, did you know removing a card in this game is actually like pretty good? 19 cards? whoa! who invited a thin deck daddy? night ooh, a woo ga, a woo ga. what i'm trying to say is there's an aura difference, okay? i don't think we need the headbutt.
-
33:05
and if you think there's not an order difference between a 19 card deck and a 20 card deck, i don't think you're paying attention. i think you're being disingenuous to be honest. now we do need to get to a shop. the shop is going to be the most likely way. if you're going to do this, man, you got to do it that way. the shop is going to be the most likely way that we encounter all of the, hang on, this could work. the most likely way that we encounter all of the vulnerable enablers that we need.
-
33:47
i think a shrug is good. yeah, it takes us to 20 cards, 20 good ones. that costing one is gonna feed families. a shop, a shop. even though our energy is not awesome, a flame barrier is too good to pass up. and then you know what? i mean, we are gonna add some cards. a molten egg is not as early as you could get it obviously, but there are a few attacks we wanna add. i guess for the cost of one campfire is not so bad. can i hit you with something?
-
34:27
duplicate a break. seems like if they're being stingy with full art cards, because full art cards are overpowered, then duplicating them has probably got to be a wise choice. it's just science. and we still have no payoff for giving you a ton of vuln, which is something i'm going to be on the freaking lookout for. bully? perfected strike? would have gone crazy if i didn't have five block total in my hand, but you get the idea. don't really need to double your vuln, man.
-
35:12
maybe it would be nice to use your remaining energy to play a card. thoughts on this? as bad as this is gone, the streets are saying it could have gone worse. it was a fairly comfortable fight. i just need that. sure. i need that alt essentially. i don't feel comfortable going into an elite fight without resting. it's kind of ticking me off. can i say that? it's kind of the order with the reptile trick and i don't want to talk about it. it's a complex system, okay?
-
36:06
watch it! i'm playing too fast, amongst other myriad problems. but i feel like... give me that. i was going to say, draw something awesome you can't play. we're okay. everything's more than okay. that was a nice little heal. if the enemy's vulnerable hit twice, we're obviously looking for something a little bit greater than that in the long run. but that's okay. it's at least a better hit for us.
-
36:47
sure man, i'll exhaust the single defend to get more strength. this is actually huge because it doesn't wake up the beetle and you're cooked right? you're beyond cooked and you're beyond dead. this is great because then we only have to deal with the slumbering beetle. now i don't know what it is about immovable that makes it like consistently be at the bottom of my deck when it would be really nice to honestly play it on turn one most of the time but we'll get through it. we'll figure it out together and we'll get through it.
-
37:26
it's also it's been an amazing card for us if i may say. wow, these breaks do so much damage man. energy potions nice. colossus is a crazy block for us without a doubt. my god, we got it on turn one. what a world man. i'll play nothing. i can sometimes get a little bit giga brain with this guy. let's make infernal blade free.
-
38:08
tarasundr? sure, man. i just realized it's obviously it's gonna add three days into the deck. i don't know why i was like it hits three times that's efficient. unbelievably bad turn here. these are the hits we're looking for. two breaks just by itself is well worth the price of doing business. crazy draw on the taunt. my god, man. if that hadn't been the last card, we might have been in a little trouble. wait, wait, wait.
-
38:43
three days is coming next turn. don't play another strike. huge, unbelievably huge. the colossus single handedly saves us. spoilers, if that's something that happens in shadow of colossus, spoilers because i've never played it. and are you seeing the utility of unmovable? because i feel like i'm definitely seeing it. that was big. i still don't think we need any of those. sword boomerang does work with strength, but the strength gained from brand is so low. we're not taking damage, that's crazy.
-
39:31
it's actually like a pretty good aoe conflagration on that one. now this turn we didn't get a whole lot done. 12 damage though and took none. i mean as soon as you get unmovable out there, the run starts to get a lot simpler. really nice, really nicely done. i don't think we need a true grit man. we have like enough blocks. i think at some point you gotta commit, right?
-
40:21
armaments is like i'm basically hoping that i'm putting a campfire in my hand. now i'm gonna try to use the ash water right too. if we get a hand that's like a lot of strikes and defense, probably warranted to just, i mean not this one. and then it's hard not to just play a strike, right? cuz you're like that's nine damage. but it's a really, really horrible turn we could work our way out of. i'm gonna say because you're both vulnerable, we actually are gonna use the energy potion on this turn.

which we should have used earlier because of the three strength, but that's the kind of mistake that i would like to think is at least a little forgivable. how about a shrug? i was really hoping you'd give me unmovable. no unmovable? sure, i'll play this. so we're on 7 hp, which is really bad. never mind. oh, because we could only lose up to 20 in a turn. dude, i keep getting surprised by the stuff in my run. that's good. that's great. i really thought you were going to give me six block.
