hey everybody, welcome back. great runs lately. the necrobinder, it's time for that to change. i love a stonehumidifier. i mean, i think those were some awesome options, don't get me wrong, but how can you not be romantic about stonehumidifier, man? lots of three campfire paths. that's like our best resting chance, i think. this, of all the fights,
-
0:35
that you can have on node one, this might be the least merciless. now for those of you that are trying to parse this, i wanna be unambiguous. least merciless, aka this is the easiest. a lot of the enemies you can fight early in the game are very, very, very merciless. they show you no mercy. i can't let you get close, you know? that type of stuff. i think you're doing nine. i think i just smack you.
-
1:10
or maybe the other thing, and this is the classic, it depends on slay the spire, but the other thing might be that different classes have different values of them. like for example, maybe the necrobinder does really well against them, but the, you know, the defect doesn't. but don't be naive, there's universal truths in all things. happy flower, at least it's a good curse in the sense that it exhausts itself from our deck.
-
1:37
veilpiercer, i literally took, in my mind it might as well say does 10 damage. it might as well say this is a strike that does 10 damage. now that's not anything to get too excited about, but we're at a unique situation in the game where like a strike that does 10 damage is actually like really useful. so if we get some ethereal cards to build around it, even better. but i like fetch, three damage draw.
-
2:04
you draw that as the same turn as your curse. guess what? you didn't draw your curse. it's as if your curse wasn't there, probably. i'm gonna need a slay the spire expert to weigh in on that, but that's the way it feels to me. so far everything's going alrighty. obviously like no synergies yet. capture spirit, i like it because it hits around block.
-
2:34
not sure if there's anything we'd like love to retain. a negative pulse i actually do like for dealing with aoe, but you know what? when in doubt, take the uncommon card. why take the gold? because i think we're going to want to rest anyway.
-
2:57
meal ticket, royal stamp. when you play a card that costs two or more... no ethereal is kind of flicking me. what about a hidden gem, man? what if we what if we stake this whole run on the possibility that hidden gem is gonna do it for us? i don't know if i've ever played this card, maybe outside of like getting it randomly from a colorless card event. um... god is my witness, i don't i don't know.
-
3:29
it hits something in your draw pile. i mean, there's any number of cards that it hit here would be pretty useful to be honest. even that's fine. let's be honest, it flicks you a little bit, but it's all right. i really like having the souls on this fight specifically because we get the extra damage bonus from playing other cards first. so we'll add a soul.
-
4:01
21, you're doing 9. as much as i, i mean, you probably want to play your defend that blocks 15 now that i think about it. oh my god, am i? no, 15 was right. this is still, we're going to take some damage on this fight without a doubt. okay, hidden gem again on a fetch is mighty nice. defend will still capture a spirit. i think we can set up like one really, really good turn. so you'd like soul, soul.
-
4:36
soul, soul, every single one of those is a damage bonus. and then you fetch, fetch will draw 3. our hand will be like 2 full. i think you put a soul in your draw pile and then draw 3. i guess it wouldn't draw on the subsequent ones, fair enough. this does 12, this does 18. okay, now as much as like capture spirit is interesting. no, you know what man? play the capture spirit so we get lots of souls next turn. and then we just, we have to kill him this turn. it was like a soul.
-
5:12
i don't even want to play that now. a soul. probably play a soul. and then three attacks, ideally. wow, that was really good. not every enemy suffers from you playing souls, so don't get too attached to it here. admittedly, you getting replay from hidden gem basically just like wins you the game. it wins every hallway fight, but it's just too perfect. it's too perfect for me not to take.
-
5:54
eternal feather. okay, we have to fight an elite we might as well do it and get two campfires possibly hoping to get like a good potion gotta remember a defy is good. i feel like we really need a potion just to give us a better chance of staying alive through this elite fight to have a chance for our deck to blossom and about capture spirit first then fetch hidden gem hit veil piercer. let's use this debuff
-
6:30
does nine damage. we only debuff with end of days. so i think we probably just take calcify. we have two ethereal cards. yeah, i think, i mean, we don't have that many oste attacks either to be honest with you. but well, hear me out. this pretty much is not all trash veil piercers really good. and then it's like can i i don't have to play you until the other phase of the fight.
-
7:15
what we really want to make sure is that we can draw veilpiercer on the next turn, because it does 30 damage by itself. or end of days. either one of those popping up on this next turn is really awesome. this is actually way better, because we kill you and then we add hidden gem to another card. unleash? we really just want to draw end of days as soon as possible.
-
7:48
i had extra energy from the flower. that stings, because we also could have killed you with the strike. that stings a lot. end of days though. everything's forgiven. okay, so wait a second. this is sort of, it's sort of working. i really don't think you need to add, like our deck has some very interesting stuff going on already. i don't necessarily think you need to add to it just yet. we struggle against the beast because so much of our damage comes from
-
8:27
you're doing how much damage? okay. so much of our damage comes from doom that relies on you having low hp. i mean, you hidden gem. even just hitting the bodyguard is pretty good, man. so i'm in 15 for one. yeah, like that's... i can't believe i said that's pretty good. it's obviously like incredible. it's almost as good as reanimate. holy cow.
-
9:01
now you just draw like an unleash. wait, hidden gem is the best card that's ever been added to this game? we're simultaneously a doom and a big oasty build? i just want to see what it hits, man. there's nothing in the draw pile. okay, so, you know, i mean, debilitate is really good. we have no payoffs for it yet, but adding it is crazy. and then just getting some payoffs for it. even just fear getting like extra plays though. three vol i think you just take fear right now.
-
9:43
hidden gem early? pop this. you know what? that'll be helpful. and then turn three we get some block anyway, which is good because you actually may live through turn three. it'll be close. replay on soul? okay, i'd never considered the possibility of that. end of days will put 29 doom on you and then you'll get hit for 40 from the bomb. so i think you'll do like two damage to me.
-
10:24
and then die to doom, which is not bad at all. i mean, honestly, obviously defy is great but delay getting replay is also, i mean, we shouldn't be operating under the assumption that all these cards are gonna get replay but also we should be upgrading hidden gem. i was hoping to maybe get it done at a question mark. wait, wait, wait, wait, okay, upgraded strike. but you know you need grave blast to bring back hidden gems so you can play it faster. now he's thinking.
-
11:04
so you just don't have to play end of days. let me think about this. this is a great turn for us. we got in here lots of souls. so next time we got tons of souls. let's make sure we have energy. and i mean, i'll hit you for nine. we got strike dummy. okay, hidden gem please. and of course the earlier the better. you definitely are gonna play that. you're probably gonna play a grave warden. you know what? i think it's another great opportunity for a soul. why not? everything's going all right.
-
11:49
hidden gem, thank you so much. a better defend. so basically they hate me is what i'm trying to say. and then we'll, i mean, i suppose we'll play our cards and might as well split you. let me think about what we're drawing here. ethereal and the shirt drawing the vulnerable would be nice. or the opposite. we have the vulnerable drawing the veil piercer would be nice. 29 doom kill enemies with as much doom honest is that or 12 damage.
-
12:25
let's go 29, dude. maybe it lets us kill you a turn faster. hidden gem early, hidden gem. you can only play one card? well, it's hidden gem, bro. 24 block and six souls. we go capture so we get more souls on the draw to draw into that super grave warden. okay, i mean that by itself is good enough. start building up here. you are getting stronger. that's scary. but then look at this incredible grave warden.
-
12:59
next turn we can only play one card anyway. it will be a basic defend. everything's still going okay. i'm just hoping we didn't make the deck too clever for our own good. you have to get the hidden gem out there. okay, a super fetch. delay is alright, but you can't shake the feeling that we could do a little better, right? i don't have any of my replay cards yet. okay, let's capture spirit. i'm really trying to get to the replay cards.
-
13:49
i don't want to put one vong on you. i feel like that's what i'm freaking talking about. that's what i'm talking about. huge. and what do we got back here? a really good strike has to be played. and then i think just keep drawing like an end of days finishes the job for you now without getting oh, we got our cool strike back. you're done, lad. oh, my god.
-
14:24
wait, this is interesting. and theoretically, this should be bad against single targets, good against aoe. okay, um, misery, very interesting. applying debuffs to other enemies, also doing the damage, costing zero. transfigure, the idea of adding replay to a hidden gem is really, really funny. i think i can't not try that. now, ideally we draw all this stuff on turn three.
-
15:00
at the end of combat you may remove a card from your deck eternal. at the end of combat you may remove a card from your deck. now, ruining pyramid is actually amazing because we don't have to play souls for zero and we could save hidden gem until there was something in the draw pile that we definitely wanted it to hit but i mean i gotta give that a chance. it's just it's too cool to pass up you can't blame me. i'm content with our with our campfire paths.
-
15:38
probably don't need to hit a shop for removal. we'll just ambiently come across a shop maybe. sorry, hidden gem. it's a very important, very strong card. we have to stun the bull bug. way of the world. next turn is what it's all about. we should probably be killing you first, to be honest. but... j'mac'um, solum,
-
16:15
if only i could get the energy to play this end of days, two of these ends of days, i should say. but obviously that's really good. and then, oh my god, this is incredible. a graveblast, so important to get a hidden gem back. and then remove a card from the deck. i still think you probably want to remove a clumsy man. but you know what? i mean, it does get rid of itself. let's start with the strikes first.
-
16:51
enchant an attack with corrupted or transform? we don't rely on like a big attack, to be honest with you. i think transforming a strike makes more sense. and honestly, almost anything is good if it gets hit by hidden gem. that's the way i'm choosing to think about this stuff. start here. i'm also operating under the assumption that we can willfully take a little bit of damage. and the whole reason i think that
-
17:34
is because we're gonna be resting at campfires anyway, on purpose. now you're doing 26 damage. this is like a transfigured hidden gem turn. we made a soul and a defend better. the souls are kind of actively working against us. don't get me wrong, the defend is a nice get. the soul... i mean, you could do worse, probably. i know we haven't done anything to this enemy yet. i'm aware of that.
-
18:22
i'm aware that this isn't really gonna help us. and we're gonna take a nasty hit here. and i'm aware that maybe we learned our lesson with transfigure combined with hidden gem. now, if i could ever do 28 more damage to you easily, you'd be in a lot of trouble, wouldn't you? yeah, yeah, yeah. i bet you never thought about that. don't put up a bunch of block, okay? what's in here? capture spirit? it's just funny, the idea that, well, i guess we... i'm trying to think of what we would even put into our hand.
-
19:02
i guess the dream play is you just grave blast and end the days back and then kill him. that's the puzzle solution. i think a defy is probably good enough and then you remove a basic strike. great time to have the ampule man. i'm not being, it sounded like i was being sarcastic. i'm not being sarcastic. i was trying to think. so we already got no damage getting done to us.
-
19:37
probably you just want to start working one closer to death. which made an ethereal card free and then you transform into a sendersbane. okay, okay, okay. it doesn't always have to be the goofy play. sometimes the goofy play has been pretty good for us. well, a super defend. at least we drew it. i mean 15 defend is really nice. 15 defend for one energy is like, that's, it feels like rare territory.
-
20:20
there's a whole science to my moves here that i don't expect you to understand, to be honest with you. you're doing 33 damage, aka we're literally chilling. basically, i want them all to be at like a multiple of two or a multiple of nine. so if someone's on 20, that's no good for us. we have end of days. we don't have end of days there. you can always bring back fetch. it does also feel like brave blast back like, i mean, a veil piercer gets a kill.
-
20:58
a fetch may not. should probably try to ruin some lives here so you're not taking 30 damage next turn. can we just... we could be very likely, if not guaranteed, that i just transform the one that had... i think i transformed the one that had replay. it didn't matter, but probably a bad idea in principle.
-
21:33
we can pass on those, we don't need them, and then cut a strike. i'm gonna rest again. there is utility in upgrading. i would never dispute that, man. i would never dispute that in my life. let's use touch of insanity on end of days this time. well, then you would just, i'm very stupid actually. you would just grave blast end of days right back. and that's amazing. it almost makes me feel like, to be honest, i kind of wasted the,
-
22:18
the greatest potion of all time. it feels like i wasted a potion that's incredible. but i mean, i think we've got a really good thing. this is the perfect turn because the bro is still sleeping. there's nothing in the, wait, wait, did you replay yourself? no, you didn't. that's okay. you know what? add some souls to the dang draw pile. my bad y'all. but with this many souls, we actually stand a pretty good chance of drawing end of days.
-
22:51
we got a lot of tickets in the end of days lottery. that's a great potion. we should keep an eye out for that potion. okay, when you play a soul an enemy loses some hp. that's obviously really good for us. i think you could do worse than cutting the curse for sure. you have to be more careful when you're cutting defense. that's a given. just studying it. i mean it like a two cost seance. it's really like a three cost seance because i got to play the transfigure first.
-
23:46
now the flip side, six souls in the draw pile. i was just gonna say it doesn't bode well for hidden gem. but what's done is done there. how about a haunt? can i get a, okay. i got a haunt, haunt maybe. haunt, the haunt, okay. and then lose some hp, lose some hp. go ahead and lose some hp, lose some hp, lose some hp for me. man, we actually lost a lot of hp.
-
24:29
this is our turn though, doing 24. i still like the capture spirit. it fills up your hand pretty quick. draw two, draw two. get something that makes me feel, i was just gonna say, get something that makes me feel like i'm not an idiot for just playing the same stuff over and over then. if you wanna give me something better than a soul, i'd be happy to let it ride, man. they won't freaking do it. we don't have a replay on anything. i'm trying to think if we were to grave blast something.
-
25:13
i mean, honestly, i think you just play one of those. it's about as good as a defend. we're gonna rest anyway. just don't let yourself get overrun by toxics and we're chilling. i mean, a doubled up haunt would also be amazing for us, man. death march seems like an unbelievable card here. is there anything we haven't been that impressed with? don't shoot the messenger, bro. we don't care about fear. we don't do damage with vulnerability. if the only thing to fear is fear itself, then consider me afraid.
-
25:50
now this is where things could get interesting. give me this. audio only listeners in shambles right now, but had to be done. obviously we want the souls and it didn't count as doing an attack. so beautiful. a haunt. just see what, okay, a hidden gem. you need to play haunt. you're gonna play, okay, there's an order to things. we know we're gonna play defy. we know we're gonna play hidden gem.
-
26:27
hidden gem hitting transfigure, i don't even know what to do with that. we play a haunt. let's fetch. we should be able... yeah, that's worth it. we should be able to draw through the daisies with all the souls that we have. otherwise something's gone horribly wrong. that's six damage. now transfigure costs one. add replay to a card in your hand. it costs an extra two. you see my conundrum here. it costs an extra one twice.
-
26:57
so i could make a soul cost two, but then i wouldn't be able to play it. so i think we just, i mean, i honestly, i think it's kind of a dead card. i think it doesn't do anything for us, but another hidden gem is beautiful. okay, and it hit a soul, which is not surprising. should reiterate that that's probably the base case. but also it hitting souls is not that bad. it's also not that good, but it's not that bad because the souls work with haunt.
-
27:33
i think we should grave blast a hidden gem back. end of days. alright, well obviously we're gonna go in on you. are there any like ults here? not really. you can play transfigure on a daze to get them both out of your hand. um, unleash does a veil piercer does more so let's let's do that then. 40 damage. you cost zero, very nice. a veil piercer that might be kind of a kill shot. do we really not have like souls in the i guess we played them all.
-
28:29
it's end of days, just wait with end of days we get there. end of days has been kind of snoozing this act but this makes up for it. horton, we could start slower which is beautiful. grave warden i think is such a good card especially if it gets hit with the double up. what's useless for us? brother, i mean we're getting into some seriously good territory. i think séance has not been that good even though we're a hot deck.
-
29:00
i'm gonna stick to my instincts and cut it. i know it seems a little crazy, but a lot of these choices are gonna seem a little crazy. weirdly enough, we do wanna play end of days, but it's so much better next turn. i think, sadly, you just keep your defy in the deck. this end of days would have been incredible here. let's just draw, man. you know what? let's capture spirit first. let's draw a card first.
-
29:40
let's draw, has to be played and it draws. a death march that would be insNLy good to draw. a death march we drew. let's just, my god, you do so much damage. i forgot with the replay. i thought it was 29 damage. it's actually like 90 damage. of course, we're gonna play it against the big baddie and then just draw end of days. my god, it happened. it's feeding families. not necessary.
-
30:17
has the time come? i mean, delay has not been that good for us. the only thing is it's amazing if it gets hit by a hidden gem. even the basic defends are just so, so, so good, man. veilpiercer hasn't been that... unleash has not been that good for us. it's basically a strike because oste's always at 1 hp. i think we can live with that. and then a shop. at the start of combat, add three souls into your draw pile. i'm realizing now this is actually bad.
-
30:58
because we don't want to hit souls with hidden gem. so the first time around we probably want to hit less, we want to be a little bit less aggressive on the souls. but i think we take the abacus for a little semi passive block. of course we're gonna rest. 96 max hp is really nice. you'd love to see an early hidden gem. without an early hidden gem, what do i like? i think a transfigured
-
31:31
grave warden is okay with the caveat that we don't play it early and let's make our next to five free we don't play it early because we want hidden gem to hit real cards instead of souls forbidden grimoire draws hidden gem. it was worth a try honestly, everything's fine we stall for a turn we shouldn't be worried about taking damage we should be worried about the frantic escapes and the doom is relatively inconsequential i think
-
32:06
we want to just like grave blast back a defy, unfortunately. play a haunt, play a frantic. next turn we get a hidden gem and a full draw pile. there's something to like there. vetch is not what you want to see. if you already knew that. at some point we're going to have to do some damage to you because it's all falling apart. we have haunt. let's start generating souls. we can't wait forever. another soul, another soul. end of days ain't the play. i ain't the one, baby.
-
32:55
23 damage is something. keep yourself going with one frantic. leverage the fact that you got lots of max hp here. huge defy, a grave warden with a replay, and now the haunts start to do their dirty work. beautiful. beautiful. and you want to just see a hidden gem. a defy is fine too, but a hidden gem would have been great. fetch me a hidden gem. bodyguard. you gonna make me say it? it's not what you want to see. it truly isn't what you want to see, but it's...
-
33:37
it's doing something. it's really out there doing the most on them back roads. i still think we're looking all right. it's just that the escapes are getting mighty expensive. oh, this could be huge for death march. and it does 32. let's play hidden gem first to see what it hits. grave warden? don't mind it. imagine if we'd had a hidden gem that it hit death march, man. like, look at the situation we'd be in right now. we can't play it, which is really bad.
-
34:20
which means we have to play one next turn, which should be... should be doable. but we're fast getting to the point where we will not have the energy to do that. because we pretty much have to play one every turn. i'm going to... i'm gonna chill for a turn, not just play a bunch of souls, just to play them. please draw hidden gem. please draw oh! it drew it! it actually drew it, the map. please. please hit death march.
-
35:03
okay, okay. we're alive. no souls. no souls, many frantically. i still think you have to play one while you got it, man. w decision, but i'm dead. and i'm kind of flabbergasted. i'm kind of flabbergasted. but i guess i have to say you live by the sword, you die by the sword, right?
-
35:42
we were doing so so i mean i did remove every strike but i just couldn't what did it hit? we hit a we hit grave warden a defend a fetch. oh, it was such a good run. we had 100 max hp we could remove a card after at the end of every combat. oh my god, it hurts so bad. thanks for watching. hope you enjoyed it. i still love slay the spire too. i'll be back tomorrow hopefully see you then. good night.
