gamers we are back. i'm still riding high after that last one. i thought that last one was a lot of fun and now everybody's on ascension 8 so i guess we run it back with the ironclad i don't know when the spike happens, but i'm ready i must be stupid because i don't think drawing two additional cards once is really that good but i think meals furious is really good. i think i don't know now which which path would a gamer take and
-
0:34
i kind of like removal, semi risky elite, force multiplier improving the run, and then rush to the finish. but there is also very like campfire rich right here, man. but you know what? lock me into the left side here. i'm curious. now i'm shrunken and my muscle memory doesn't make sense anymore. i could do 10. doesn't even matter because at least i can put up enough block.
-
1:10
15 damage, not gonna happen young pup. take 3, literally, let me teach you a little bit. most important thing you need to know about the ironclad is when you take less than 6 damage you get to say that was tactical, burning blood clears it anyway. draw 2, at the start of your turn exhaust the top card of your draw pile. nah man, i think we'll be taking breakthrough to have some form of aoe. 107 gold to transform 2 cards. i really want to be able to remove, we won't be able to remove without it, but
-
1:46
being able to dump a strike and a defend, it's worth it man. lose... wait, wait, wait, okay. second wind is actually really good. exhaust all non attack cards, gain 5 block for each, depending on what you're trying to do at least. brand is great if we're running like a strength reduction, or a strength gain or health reduction build. which, if i'm being honest, we kind of are because we have two cards that cost us health already.
-
2:23
neo's fury is coming around. but wait, wait, we get to choose what to draw with neo's fury. doesn't matter, bro. plus burning blood clears. okay, wait, we're building something interesting. i don't think we need anger. i think rage is like one of those cards. it's just nice to have one of them. nine gold? i don't even want to look at you, man. i thought maybe we'd get enough gold to at least like buy a common or something. doesn't matter. burning blood clears. six damage. six damage.
-
2:58
i feel like you just don't even play second wind in a situation like this. so we are also kind of looking for exhaust synergies, but i think we built a deceptively decent attacking deck early, which i think is going to be important for the elites that we've taken. let's let the relics do some of the talking now, man. you're going to give us a bunch of statuses, which obviously sucks. we do have aoe, which is awesome.
-
3:38
we don't choose what we bring back, which is horrifying. so let's add another good attack into the discard pile. i'm not going to use an energy potion to play one defend. it's just not going to happen. you got the wrong guy. i ain't the one, baby. we can always rest. but also, the other thing is burning blood clears it. so probably a great bash into breakthrough setup here. i mean, that's like a dream come true, to be honest with you. and now we have enough strength for a strike to kill any of you.
-
4:16
and we got some strikes? that seems to be the play for a guy like me, man. did we oh, you know what? lose 1 hp to exhaust something that was gonna do 3 damage to us? that stings. but still, i think we did fine and i think we're in a position where we don't need the rest. as long as we can kill you on this oh, you wouldn't do me dirty like that, man!
-
4:48
the thing is though, i really don't want to rest and we really don't have to which is awesome. we don't have too many cards named strike so this is not a perfected strike play in my opinion. four damage more for each vulnerable. it's not for us right now. that's a skip. in this house that's a skip. i really just think swift 2 is probably the best thing you could have man. although a skill like brand also having
-
5:24
nimble 2, so it blocks for 2 when we play it, is kinda... it makes it more of a no brainer, i guess. oh, you can't even do that? well, second wind does get a lot better, actually. what happens to brand that gives you 2 strength? don't overthink it, man. you gotta admit, it's probably a little irritating. but, if i may, upgrading your rares has literally just worked for us. now, i know i rested. we got two elites. cut me some slack, okay?
-
5:58
whenever a card's exhausted, gain 3 block. that's not really what we're built for. we do exhaust a little bit, but not enough to build around this, i think. i don't really know what our build is right now. true grit is a good block and we do need a block. hemokinesis is also just a good amount of damage. we still kind of are lacking like a big attack. we're gonna get one from this elite. that's my 2 cents. this elite is gonna give us an awesome attack.
-
6:44
breakthrough, neo's fury, breakthrough. he takes two turns off, we gotta do as much damage as possible. exhaust to defend, this is a crazy turn. playing in flame. keep a rage out there just in case. 23 damage. alright, that's gonna be a turn where we do a little something like that. is your life over? yeah, okay. that could've gone a lot worse. meat on the bone, pretty big for what we're going for. twin strike is a strength payoff card, that's exactly what we need.
-
7:29
7 damage twice? can't kill you, but i feel like i can get mighty close. actually, it's so good if you hit me for just enough to take me to 39 and then i heal for 12 and i go to 51 and then burning blood takes us to 57. could be the play, man. you need strength more than you need to play a bash. oh, you know what? get the best of both worlds. literally got 9 block anyway, which we maybe shouldn't have even gotten. and we're back! what do you do? you gain 7 strength? that's nasty, man.
-
8:12
literally you hitting me for 11 takes us to 48, 54. okay, it's slightly good for us. let me see what this brings back though. i mean if i can avoid it, i would prefer to just get 6 hp unless i can exactly get the amount of... like going to 42 doesn't really matter is what i'm trying to say. unless we can trigger meat on the bone at like the exact optimal level of meat on the bone, i don't care.
-
8:47
petbot's interesting in that it could bring back strength really quickly like a brand. and we haven't, we don't have that many attacks yet. i think it's okay to add it, man. now this fella can be a bit of a nightmare. 13 damage is enough for sure to play it over a strike. you're going to need to be vulnerable at some point. chat, that was for you. i didn't mean in the game. i meant irl.
-
9:16
exhaust and ascender's bane, play a rage. neo's fury did a lot of damage, and look at that, not even bad, man. whenever you apply vulnerable draw a card, it's just not what we're built for. so i have to hit this guy 100 times. i know that to be true. i have to hit him 100 times. we have a blood potion. i think there's a chance we make it through this and then we get the card of our dreams. good start, we hit him once. honestly, you can exhaust a second wind. this guy doesn't have any statuses or anything, i think.
-
10:00
i have a sneaking suspicion we will be using our blood potion, but we don't need to use it yet. you got it, you got a hit man. headbutt back to the top of the draw pile. bring this back, that's two more hits. you don't need to play the blood potion yet. okay, now things are getting serious. he literally does give us status effects by the way. clearly i had no idea what i was talking about. nine damage, nine damage we should be able to survive via a blood potion. god is my witness.
-
10:56
god is my witness, you bring back brant. that's a pivotal decision. 16 damage, literally still alive. you're gonna have to try a lot harder than that to kill a guy like me. now we gotta find a way to live through the next turn when you do 29 damage. and we're not gonna do that. so we'll be starting again. i really thought we were on to something.
-
11:31
i thought we were cooking if i'm being honest, but i guess i made the classic ironclad mistake of like not having any blocks at all. greed for 333 gold with a shop that's far away. i'm adding a colorless card, man. i love discovery. holy cow. does it go non exhaust? it goes non exhaust when it's upgraded. how can you not be romantic about slay the spire, man? i think we want earliest campfire, which means we go this way.
-
12:09
someone in my chat said it the best, i think. they said, by the way, we take one damage, okay, burning blood clears. 12 damage, the next attack you play costs zero. that's huge. one energy to get a choice of three cards is crazy. but what chat was saying is that any card that lets you choose between three things is overpowered. and i gotta say, i can't necessarily disagree. uppercut can do some really good work, at least in slave the spire 1.
-
12:42
literally you're doing 8 damage. guess what? 6 damage, aka burning blood clears. horrible joke of a turn. losing 1 hp net as the ironclad might as well restart. 16 damage to all enemies. that'll do. brother, there might be a little molten fist going on on this one. this might be a vulnerability run. it's calling to me a little bit. first upgrade though for sure is gonna be so that discovery doesn't exhaust. can only be played if there's 3 or more cards in your exhaust pile. obviously that's not gonna happen.
-
13:26
i mean we don't even have good cards in our draw pile but i'll give it a try. cool, we played two strikes that we couldn't target ourselves. now they did hit the exact unit that i would have hit with it but probably you do the bigger attack on the unit that is actually gonna live but so be it. you know what taunt could go huge. i'm assuming when it gets upgraded it gets too vulnerable. stomp uppercut setup strike. i mean i think you definitely like an uppercut
-
14:07
molten fists take four damage literally doesn't matter because of burning blood i'm not gonna say because it's probably getting annoying i'm not gonna just keep saying it but but there but i have i make am i making my point clean or clear i should say apply vulnerable gain strength for every point of vulnerable so we're in danger of going a little too synergistic and not necessarily like just cards that work, but could still be the move. i mean thrash can be crazy. this mantle is good just for hitting and
-
14:41
primal force gets rid of some good cards, turns all attacks into a giant rock, which costs one. that's tough for a guy like me to get down with right now. i think if anything, double the vulnerability. hit you twice. at a minimum, you have not stolen much gold from me. if you are able to get away, which there's an argument to maybe just letting you get away so i don't take nine more damage, but that's my gold, so i want it back.
-
15:29
i mean, whirlwind is like, if you don't take it, chat will get furious with you so you gotta take that one even though we're recording this for youtube. really wanted to see an aoe fella here but let's see what we got cooking up. five damage twice, gain three strength, the enemy gains one strength. i feel like the thing is, we can only do 20 damage to you a turn. 15 damage to you a turn which is even more insulting.
-
15:57
that being said, this will make it... we'll do 15 damage faster so we can have more energy to play blocks. brother, i don't know. i guess give me pillage so i draw a block. mission accomplished. i suppose we probably should have played an uppercut to weaken you instead. i don't know! taunt is big. molten fist extends your vulnerability by one. i don't really care about gaining a little bit of strength. i think we gotta make sure we hit you enough that you could die in two turns if everything goes right.
-
16:39
would you say everything's going right right now? we need a taunt and a hit should be good. and then next turn we just hit you for 15. okay, that sucked. whenever you lose hp gain three block next turn. i'll just be honest with you. i mean bully is like what we're building towards. fiendfire is literally like the best ironclad card in slay the spire 1 in my opinion. i can't not take it in a situation like this.
-
17:16
like we did 30 damage on turn one and also exhausted three cards we never want to see again. i literally just want to play shrugged off here, as crazy as it sounds. we got to manage this one mighty carefully because it is in a lot of danger. now that we've got one shrugged off, we should be fine. one week to all enemies at the start of combat. we need to rest unfortunately or at least have a campfire that gives us an option.
-
17:56
i would happily take fresno lens. i mean, losing max hp when you're well below max hp just feels good. literally that's your turn. shrug? shrug came through in the clutch, man. not totally sure about a free uppercut, but i feel like we're due for a potion anyway. i thought maybe we'd get like a healing card somehow. thought it was worth trying at least. pommel's really good too. we got good foundations, man. the run's got good bones.
-
18:46
upgrade two at the start of each combat upgrade two cards in your draw pile for the rest of combat i think that might be awesome. are we the type of guy that plays bloodletting? i think we're the type of guy that takes bloodletting we have to roll the bones on this one an uppercut and a defend getting the uppercut is a huge dub honestly, we have lots of upgraded cards now who's our boss is leg of voulan so i feel like we can definitely throw this at you and
-
19:29
is it just me or is everything turning around? and then when we add block cards, we have fresno lens. another explosive amp, another shrug it off. oh baby. i really don't want to rest. now for a boss like this, we probably want to get as much vulnerable as possible, right? apply two vulnerable, gain one strength for each vulnerable. we have to see what we draw.
-
20:05
i think we have to wait for more vulnerability to come around, man. i think we gotta stall. we could get something awesome out of discovery too. i mean, this literally is kind of what we need. now we need to obviously start attacking next turn and drawing as much as possible. horrible turn, but like those are my cards so there's not really anything i can say about that. more vulnerability, please!
-
20:46
six block rolling overs nice something with vulnerability one vulnerability at a random. no, no, no it's gonna be one week one vulnerability you got to keep the volume chunking on this one so that you can at least get like three strength it would be awesome to double it double okay, this is that we're doubling it and giving it to the next guy in the next guy's me i just got eight strength off of that literally, you're hitting me for 12. we block because only our big attacks matter at this point uppercut is pretty big what are we drawing though taunts?
-
21:21
17, 14, whatever. do we not want to? yeah, you know what? play this so that we can play taunt next turn and get a decent block out of it. still a pretty decent attack if i'm being honest. wait, this has kind of worked out. i'm still glad we rested though. this is what you want to see. you want to see fiend fire 19 times 4. does not finish the job, but it's okay. we get to save our amp fuel as well for the next one. okay, now who would have thought this would be better than the last one? am i right?
-
21:58
hellraiser is interesting. do we need more strength than we're already... i mean it takes about the same setup as dominate. hellraiser in demon form, man. i mean we do have a pommel strike. whenever you draw a card containing strike, it's played against a random enemy. first time you gain block from a card each turn, double the amount gained. this is a really tough decision. this is turning me into a real streamer. i'm agonizing over this, man. i don't think hellraiser gives us enough.
-
22:40
but i also, i mean it's so hard to play demon form but i don't even know if i've taken it in the, in slay the spire 2 yet so i'll give it a chance. draw one additional card, sacrifice card rewards to pale, every two sacrifices get a relic. it has to be relaxed though and i've literally never taken it, i think. crazy use of literally in that case but um, i think this is our path by the way.
-
23:11
but it gives us the energy to actually, in theory, play demon form. it does kind of screw up turn one, but then you just play it again? no, no, you don't play it again here. but you definitely don't need to play demon form against these fellas. you can settle for taking no damage and making sure one of them dies next turn. honestly, demon form clears, so this seems fine.
-
24:04
10 damage, we already got three block. can i just kill you? that'll kill you. and then we deal with you next turn. two attacks still kills you. or we just put up some blocks is the alternative. come on, man. deal seven damage, gain two strength. they literally got us there. okay, thank you, burning blood. stampede is insane. but tremble is really like what we're going for. we're not built for stampede, man. we're built for a tremble.
-
24:45
can you see on my face that i'm losing confidence in this run completely? it actually might be awesome. i find it hard to tell. flame or gain a bunch of strength. probably a gain a bunch of strength turn. and then... bloodlet regardless. yeah, that was a lot of damage, man. and you're seven strength up and they're vulnerable for life. i guess in hindsight we should have taken the strength earlier. i literally thought there was no way they would live through that but proved me wrong. i just don't think iron wave is good enough if i'm being honest.
-
25:30
rage i do like, but not this, not the hunter killer, man. after everything we've been through, 17 damage. this time, i mean, i do think you play a demon form. it would be peak to have some block or whatever too. and maybe now you just play blocks, as much block as you can. no, man, i can see that we're gonna need a rest coming up soon. so we have so much strength, 15 damage for each card. this guy's not an elite, right?
-
26:17
that's criminal. we have to make sure he dies next turn. like you not being an elite is madness. surely you're not dead. wait, four damage, two additional damage for each and we have lots of strength. okay, there's actually, oh my god, it doesn't get the kill. oh my god, it doesn't get the kill. we take damage because he's a hunter killer drone. oh my god, man. almost played relax would have ruined my life.
-
26:51
so twin strike like is what we're going for. i also feel like we just need another bloodletting, man. because we need all this energy to play demon form and relax. relic is red skull, which is very interesting. put me here. i'm gonna take a coward's path. get rid of clumsy. take a rest. takes us off of red skull but also possibly keeps us alive. lose 10 hp, upgrade a card. okay, we get to choose what's upgraded at least.
-
27:36
demon form scaling faster, relax. i was really hoping it would cost less, but you know what? i mean we're playing it basically every time it shows up. i think it's worth upgrading. potion belt may be like the most underrated relic amongst me of all time. perfect fit. whenever this would be shuffled into your draw pile, place it on top instead. normality is just really hard to deal with, man. so i mean the card we want with perfect fit is obviously discovery because it could be anything. and then...
-
28:08
i mean, i'm gonna take a chance, man. i'm gonna upgrade my other relax. huge. play it. you don't need to play anything else. i think you use an explosive ampule here. these seem like the right type of fellas. 15 block. draw some cards. whirlwind ain't all that and a bag of chips yet, but i mean, it's probably the play. nah, probably gaining 4 strength is the play. whirlwind ain't going anywhere. great turn for discovery. 16 damage to all enemies.
-
29:04
it's gonna kill you, right? 25 damage. i could kill you more cheaply and then still do 14 damage to you. way w arithmetic! and burning blood clears. that actually went so well. vuln potion is crazy. we have 27 cards in our deck, man, but... but a pommel is really good, especially if we could actually get the economy to upgrade it. i kind of love the idea
-
29:45
of this and having six volna on you really early in case we draw dominate. we didn't, but we can do a lot of damage to you. definitely do feel like wouldn't you rather just draw two more cards to then have it work better with fiend fire? one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. so it'll do 80 damage. i'm going to put up a little bit more block just so it does 70 damage instead.
-
30:24
i didn't really think about the ramifications of that. it exhausted a daze, which is awesome. i mean, brother, what do you play? i think you pass your turn so you don't fill your draw pile with too many useless dazes. that seemed very nice. i could live with this, probably. i could die with this, maybe. 15 block on the next turn's mighty nice. i'm not taking any damage, which is mighty nice. you're not doing any damage, which is mighty nice. and you're dead, which means we lived.
-
31:06
every time you play an attacker skill, upgrade it for the rest of combat. literally like something we needed desperately. i don't even know what this fella does. what do you do? i don't know what you do. you do 23 damage. suboptimal. 27 block though. and then we start applying the status effects. okay, i realize now you have thorns, but it didn't matter. this is a thrilling run. 15 damage. well, first off, that replaces it with something else. this replaces it with another card.
-
31:48
15 damage times 7 literally gets a kill. and i skip. and we've made it to boss 2. it's the crab. i don't have any special strategy for dealing with the crab. energy potion burned on making sure demon form can be played as early as possible seems pretty sensible. also, going all in to get as much strength as possible out of dominate for sure. okay, flame barrier is just awesome. i understand this is almost like a bully deck too, but
-
32:32
molten fist does exhaust. still think you'd be happy to get it out, man. we have dominate. this is like your all in turn. i'd say i'm happy with my vulnerability. so let's take eight strength. you have to play a demon form. we don't have to play relax. we could play this and then see how it goes. literally, i think you save your energy potion. i don't think you have to cry about six damage that gives you three block next turn. we do have to flip you around to get over here, though.
-
33:27
how do i not die on this turn? that's 44. i mean, that's... i would love to face you, but 9 life is not awesome. this is a crazy turn for fiendfyre though. you need a discovery. i mean, ashen strike is getting to the point where it could be fucking awesome. and like, could i kill you on this turn? like, i need to do something with this. this does 18. it's gonna do... okay, so you're definitely dead. the question is what do you keep?
-
34:19
i don't have an answer to that question. i guess we get rid of all this. so sorry, because i can't play anything else. all right, now we got to face you somehow, which basically means i think that we just have to kill you as soon as possible. i would say if you have to, you can play relax because otherwise you're relying on drawing it on the exact turn where he does 60 damage, which may not even matter. but the other thing is you don't have to. i would say you don't play relax, man. what are we hoping? three more cards through. you know what? actually, you do play it. i'll tell you why.
-
35:00
all your hopes and dreams rest upon drawing whirlwind and one form of vulnerability right now. whirlwind kills you. two fiendfires is greedy, i say no. i say i haven't earned it, man. every four cards you put... no, no, no. it's got to be at a random attack into your hand. it's free to play this turn. four upgraded cards is awesome, don't get me wrong, but we should be dodging elites and praying that somehow we make it through the boss. like, we should be taking this path, i think.
-
35:45
and like literally fighting one enemy on the whole floor. maybe two enemies on the whole floor. three, four cards. we're doing okay on draw i think. i think we want the free attack so we can maybe, i mean increase variance on the run to be honest with you. three uppercut kind of insane. what is this? you see how offended i got? yeah sure get this dude out of here. literally that potion just look at it as it healed us for 10. that's all you need to know.
-
36:44
huge. we take one damage, we don't even care. 14 damage. i think we continue not to care. um, because we can just play relax. we'll play relax and then dominate you next turn. so you might be... this is kind of like a classic time for someone like me to tell you how i'm feeling about this run. the real answer is i have absolutely no idea. i do think that extra molten fist is kind of huge.
-
37:14
i literally don't think we're gonna like be in combat anymore, but i don't want to heal for 10. give me a relic bro. jujube bracelet is so huge here so we never have more combat man. decay to your deck but a card that exhausts no longer exhausts. yeah we'll be putting that on molten, we'll be putting that on molten fist plus. the doubling to then get way more strength is that is way better than using this multiple times probably. we do need to live long enough for it to work though also
-
37:49
the dude just makes us exhaust our cards anyway when we play them. wait, okay. obviously we want the relic. obviously we want to see what's going on down here. maybe a little gold right here. that went pretty well. i mean pyre could go crazy. am i insane to skip that one? i just don't think thrash is what we're building for, man. i... sorry, be mad. you might be right, for all i know. i would happily give you a skill potion for a relic. oh my god, bag of prep, you're too good to me, man.
-
38:36
okay, certainly it's too late for that i think. cut a decay. i'm not as worried about money. add a copy of the third attack you play into your hand each turn. really good to get molten fists. i think we have to try like a little gimmick to be honest with you. three or fewer cards equals drawing more cards next turn. actually amazing for us because we have many turns in which we play like one or two cards.
-
39:16
i don't know. i don't know what to put anything on at this point. do we really just look at a power? like juggling and put swift on it? whirlwind doing two extra damage doesn't really like, doesn't really blow the doors off for a guy like me, right? all right, this fella. this fella right here. beaten fire doesn't do that much to you. nothing. this is a horrible turn. it's a god awful turn. i need to make you vulnerable
-
39:57
at some point for this run to work. so we have to purge your artifacts. that's the only way we make it through this. that's big. it would be nice to play. wait, you just get a bloodletting or something here. it's garbage. i skip... i take a flame barrier, but i thought about skipping. don't use summon aoe, right? or you're just a status andy. taunted. dominate exhaust. it was very difficult to play in this situation. we don't care about gaining three strength.
-
40:40
i mean we could die right here to be honest. third attack you play each turn gets added into your hand. definitely like a bloodletting, a relax. certainly feel like weakening you makes a lot of sense. bully does 12 damage. i would rather trigger pocketwatch for next turn. we need a huge vulnerability turn man. come on, work with me on this one. we can guarantee... what's in our... hide this... what's in our discard pile? cinder!
-
41:27
i can't be playing demon form man, not at this stage of our life. sorry, i'm still lost in the supermarket here. okay, taunt, headbutt, bring back discovery, molten fist to double and then some strength gain for the future. we're looking for dominate. bloodletting lets us use spite to hit twice. i thought i drew a card but i'm obviously mistaken. draw cards until you get a non attack. i'm freaking out man.
-
42:24
where's my dominate? where's my dominate fiendfire to finish the job? obviously molten fist really messes you up. relax also sets us up so beautifully. i'm sorry, brother, this was the right play. i'm not apologizing. dominate? okay, wait, wait. dominate surely into a whirlwind gets the kill. okay. we have 31 cards. that's all i have to say when it comes to justifying not taking another card. i will literally heal 10 hp. everything else is irrelevant.
-
43:06
i will literally take a potion of some sort. i'll take a potion of some repute. now realistically, i mean we pulled out a dream win against the doormaker last time. realistically this one's gonna be mighty tough. i will say... duplicated demon form turn 1. that feels nice. i don't give a fuck about breakthrough, man. so cards you play here are lost forever. that's fine because we will play a relax which was already lost forever.
-
43:45
then the ashen strike could actually get crazy over time if we continue to exhaust cards now this one we can't draw any extra cards. that's okay. we will weaken maybe we'd still play juggling anyway well, we can add some vulnerability add some vulnerability get a bunch of block i'm not taking my strength until i see you at like at least 50 vulnerability cards you play here become more expensive okay, but hear me out
