so they can build a map and then choose what items to populate it with and what rules to populate it with and stuff like that. and then other people can go and play those mini games. what's prison breakout? okay, don't... can we be... oh, sorry. i'm just clicking. wait, can we do... let's do something. let's do something. i don't want to do the custom one because i don't vet this kind... like, i'm 35 years old. it's enough to get me to just download fortnite again.

kind of like discount fortnite, really. like i'm sure there's lots of survival stuff in roblox, but it's like all minigames and stuff. i thought it was kind of cool. did you ever play dreams on ps4? no, that was just like a bunch of random stuff, like people doing stuff that you do in like strawberry fields. yeah, i think you pretty much got it. people like make their own games and then you play them and maybe like some of them you play for like 20 minutes, you're like this is pretty good and some of them you play for like five seconds.

but i do sometimes feel like, i talked about it in the discord today, i sometimes feel like i'm taking insane pills when a trailer comes out and everybody is like this is the future of video games. like this is a serious game for serious people. like this is going to elevate the medium and then when you play it you're like driving a toyota prius off a ramp

i will say as like a gamer approaching middle age, when i still deluded myself into thinking that i would like enjoyed competitive games and i would play rocket league at like low plat high gold, which is not good at all. i would oftentimes get people on my team who were clearly drunk driving. and then when you're like, what are you doing? they're like, oh, sorry, i'm drunk. and you're like, this shit is my super bowl. like, could you take it a little bit more seriously?

couple weeks i think. we've been doing our own alternative reality game similar to the portal 2 reference. if you guys just play enough independent games then we'll reveal the secret two minutes early. yes. anyway, but we actually probably won't cover the big announcement in this podcast. maybe not, but... you know, key... i'm not gonna say keep an eye out, because like, i hate when people say that because it's like, what are you gonna refresh my youtube channel like every 10 seconds? you'll see a video when it comes out

uh, $60 and it came with a wiimote which cost $50 by itself. yeah, i was just gonna say, like, honestly, it makes sense. just, you're gonna, a lot of people are gonna get a remote anyways. you need a second remote to play wii. why not? there's no single player games except for first party nintendo games. anyway, on that segue, we're gonna move out of our rapid fire news and opinions section which took close to a half hour.

i don't wanna play every game in the exact optimum fashion. and like min max like my enjoyment on planet earth, like be like so focused on like not having fun but instead focused on like the optimal outcome that i lose sight of the reason i'm like playing video games in the first place. you know what i'm talking about? people are like, well just never fight when there's more than one person around then. okay, well honestly, first off, i think that's like a perfect world situation.

and if you have friends that you can play this with online i think you can have a ton of fun as we have on the nlss this week but it does have a small single player campaign as well and i'll do my best to explain the basics and then hopefully we'll be able to hop online and find some players according to steam charts. there's about 25 people online right now, which is not great, but also not awful but i've come to realize that you know in indie multiplayer games the the online is a bonus and

the fraction of the population that that is relevant for is probably a little smaller than the online side. so, we'll go online here. you don't get experience for playing games with friends, but i have played probably four, maybe even five hours of this. on kate's stream, me, kate, and michael a.l. fox played it for two and a half, three hours. and then we played it twice on the nlss this week, which i think is the most ringing endorsement that i can say right now, is if you can find people to play it with, it's a ton of fun. we've been playing it, you know, pretty rigorously this week.

hopefully we'll be able to find some other people here to play with as well. unfortunately, we may have to tough this out for a little bit here. one thing i will say that i'm not a huge fan of from an interface standpoint, i don't know if this actually works this way or maybe it's like a ui quirk, but when indie games come out and they're multiplayer focused, i do dislike when they fracture the audience like this.

it can be the kind of cumbersome because you're like well what if you want people that only want to play puzzle games and they're willing to wait 45 minutes for it? well, i understand that but at the same time i sort of feel like if it was just like play online quick match private match or something like that it might work better to avoid like fracturing the community like let me i just want to go with whatever the default setting is hopefully random actually means that we can

i'm lost just kill me. it does seem like one of those games this one i mean non derogatorily very fun to play not necessarily a ton of fun to watch someone else play convert to die in your hand for the rest of the dang run. i'm having fun and i understand don't lie to the people i here's what we're doing here. i'm rerolling. well first cancel that draw dice. that's another reroll. i

they're on ovichkin every time. ovichkin. ovichkin. ovenchicken. what have you guys been playing for video games this week? we haven't really talked about it. uh, not much yet. i've been playing, there's been uh... it's fucking... indiestatic for their kickstarter. they advertise like a bunch of like uh... games that you can play. that'll be like exclusive to people that backed it. so i've been playing through some of those, pretty good ones. some of them just don't work, which is interesting but... i backed that too, i should check that out.

i wanna... i mean, i have to pick up that thing at some point. clubhouse. clubhouse, yeah. so i'll probably play that then. i'm interested to play... i like those kinds of board games. board games people have been playing these types of video games that people had for thousands of years before they had the videos in the video game. i am definitely going to do a clubhouse games tier list.

i'm very good at video games now, it's one of the things that people comment the most. they go, n.l. you're so good at video games. it's true, but i didn't always have the same kind of acumen that you managed to see in front of you today. you know, it took a lot of practice to get there, it took a lot of dedication, a lot of focus, and a lot of mindfully trying to improve myself while i play these games.
