it's a breezy read, but i think it has meaningful themes. it's the only ernest hemingway book i've ever read to be honest with you. i mean, you could take it as a literal story about a man fishing, but that's not really what it's about. it's much more, i mean, it's about the aging, your place in the community as you get older, biting off more than you can chew. i would also say the stranger by camus.
